Project Evaluation

This project i have had a lot of fun, success and failure. Like most things, nothing is really gonna work out the first time round, i have been changing my mind on these songs a-lot because when i think of how to make it better i want to change the song completely to match that vibe, but i came up with a solution to fix the song to sound like i want it to and also incorporate the part i wanted to change in the first place.

I like using Ableton and Logic Pro X and songwriting with a guitar. I preferred and really enjoyed using logic, it’s super easy to sync and synchronise parts together.

At the start of this project i set myself some targets. The first target was – “I would like to work on playing the bass because I am not used to using a bass guitar because the strings are way thicker and i need to work on my technique on bass. Learning how to use my alternating fingers on the picking hand.” I did not achieve this target, because i was working more on my songs on ableton and logicc and in my song writing i was playing guitar for it.

Second target was – “i need to work on my work ethic to completing my evaluations for all of my work.” I think i have half achieved this target because i have focused more on my work in general but sometimes i still need to pay extra attention to specifics and do extra work to show what i have found out.

I think my research skills are pretty good but I don’t document most of my research because its all in small portions and if i’m watching anything i will pick things apart. I mainly learn by watching someone else play or do something..

My practical skills get better daily because i learn something new pretty much everyday, i watch a lot of random videos on YouTube and a-lot of random tv shows on Netflix that inspires me to try something new and learn more about it in all areas of education even outside of music.

As I’ve stated a million times before, i would love to get a career in songwriting and production but I am much much better at practical work so i need to focus more on my production skills to evolve into the producer I would love so much to become

I could have done more in this project and promoted my songs and done art work for them, but seen as though the film soundtrack has a movie attached to it that will probably get copyrighted, i would not release it to the public. Same goes for the ableton song, that uses alot of samples that might get flagged plus i dont really think its worth the effort as its not the best i could have done. In the future when I produce and release music, i will do artwork for it and promote it.

i enjoyed making the songwriting song the most because its so therapeutic to just grab a guitar and write chord progressions and melodies for hours on end. I feel at home when i’m sat with a guitar in my lap playing and writing music, it’s so relaxing to come up with something that just sounds so right and knowing that you can turn it into something more beautiful and meaningful.

The project as a whole was really hard on my mind because i was stressing about having the best sound i can have and finishing it on time. But then i realised that it doesn’t matter if its not finished as long as im satisfied with my work and then i started to enjoy it more and more. Working on ableton and logic were both fun but would get on my nerves when i couldn’t synchronise things and sequence them to fit in the right times. But overall i really enjoyed this project and i cant wait for the next project.
