^^^ how my whole project looks so far.
^^^All the EQ’s
I started first with the palm muted distorted guitars where i cut high frequencies and the sub frequencies and then boosted the mids to create a thick sounding guitar sound that sits well under the main guitar and adds depth. I then moved onto the acoustic guitars playing on the low end and cut out the sub frequencies, high frequencies and then boosted the mids to have the guitar frequencies louder and more in your face. Then i did the high acoustic which plays the same thing as the low one but an octave higher, on this one i cut out some sub frequencies and some high frequencies. But since this is the main acoustic i wanted to emphasise the sound of an acoustic a bit more so i boosted low mids and some high mids between 2k and 10k to capture the sound of the strumming. Then came the bass, for this i boosted the sub frequencies and the mids to extend and increase the bass sounds and the strumming of the notes. I cut out the high frequencies because there was a slight buzz noise to it.
^^^ Amp simulation I added to my DI recorded guitars.
I added a clean pre amp effect to the clean guitar track that was recorded with DI so it gave it a more ambient sound like an actual amp would when playing in a room. I also added a tweed combo amp to the palm muted guitar that was recorded with DI because it was meant to be distorted but that effect was on the amp while recording so it did not record the distortion tone, so i added it post recording in Logic.
^^^ The compressors i have added.
I added compressors to the clean guitars because the sound waves were irregular so i used a compressor to make them a little steadier. I also added a compressor to the low acoustic because there are some parts of the verses where it gets a bit too loud so i used this compressor to compress them loud parts.
I added distortion to one of the clean guitars because it didn’t sound as i’d have imagined so i tried correcting it by adding this to create a bit of a different tone between the 3 clean guitars.
^^^^ This is what it sounds like so far.
It doesn’t quite sound that well because i have only added EQ’s and some compressors. But once i add some other effects and mix it properly it will sound much better and will come together more and feel more natural.
I am thinking that i will add some Logic Pro X digital drums to it as-well.
^^^^ I added reverb to the two acoustic guitar channels to put a bit of reverb on all 6 acoustic guitar tracks to make them sound more spacious but not too far away. I did this to make it sound more live like most musicians do when recording their acoustic songs.
^^^ this is what it sound like after these last few adjustments.
This song does not sound quite the way i wanted it to but I will try my best to make adjustments to create a sound that i like and try to make it sound the way i had imagined it to in the first place. The main guitar, I don’t like the clean tone of it. When i was recording the amp’s tone sounded really nice but the microphones did not capture the sound as well as I had hoped.
To solve this issue i was having i asked Lewis on how i could make the clean guitar sound better and closer to how i wanted it and he helped me a little to make the sound much much better.
He changed the EQ to get rid of the muddy sounds but also boost the mids and some of the low frequencies. this made the guitar more clear in all areas of the guitar sound.
He used this “Clean Jazz Fat” Amp simulation effect, which sounded really good with this guitar tone and it just felt right.
