- Performance showcase. A performance showcase could be done in many ways, we could put on a gig, or even just post something onto Youtube, Spotify, Apple music etc. But before we think about performances we need to think about what we could do as the performance. so if we are planning to perform live we need a band or multiple instruments on stage we also need to think about the sound and we need to mic up the amps and/or drums. We also need to promote the show and sell tickets, but before we can sell tickets we need to sort out how we are going to have the tickets, digital or physical. If we decide digital then we need to think on what platform we will sell them on for example we could do it on Eventbrite but if we sell these tickets as physical objects then we need to find a distributor to sell these tickets and deliver them to the buyers. We must first design the tickets to show the address of the gig and the time it is on and the set list. After this we need to print them and then advertise the place/s where they are going to be sold and distributed.
Whereas if we are releasing or producing a song, we need to only focus on composing, producing and advertising. We need to focus on the songwriting first, to get the song into a good sounding melody. We then need to focus on recording it, so we will need to set up mics to amps for guitars and also set up mics for the drum kit (unless we choose to use digital drums). We can either record the guitar via amp with a mic or we can record guitar via DI (Direct Input) but this does not sound as lively compared to recording through a mic next to an amp. Once we have recorded this song, we need to mix it so every instrument or audio file is in the right place and add any effects we might need to add, including EQ, reverb or compressors. After we finish mixing the song we need to master it to bring the volume up and make the track bigger and more sparkly. Now your song is ready to post and release, if you want it to be more recognisable, you might want to make some artwork and design tech for your song/album covers. You might also want to create a music video and for that you will need a photographer and videographer. After all this work you need to get licensing agreements with music streaming platforms so you can make money off of this track and nobody can copyright this song and the song belongs to you. this can be on youtube, Spotify and sound cloud. On youtube you can also put ads on your videos to earn add revenue and make an extra bit of money. Once your song is posted, you need to advertise it and make it popular so you will get a lot of streams so you can make money.
2. Learning a new instrument. Learning an instrument could be another idea for this project. I play guitar but I’ve always wanted to learn how to play drums. So I could set myself a goal of where I want to be at the end of the project and try achieving this goal. I could start by learning easy songs and then learning harder songs and then harder and so on until I reach the point where I am satisfied with my progression. Then learn an even harder song so then I would be better than I was planning to be.
