Health & safety

Health & safety risks at festivals, concerts and other live performances:

Wires; if there are wires across the stage, that could be a trip hazard and could lead to all sorts of injuries from minor injuries to also major injuries. This could also lead to damage of equipment and maybe also the stage. For example if there was a lightning rig connected to a pole and the wires weren’t tidy, someone could trip on them and damage the lighting cables or the actual lights themselves. This could also lead to equipment falling onto the performers and/or the audience members.

Unsecured equipment; lighting equipment is often bolted to a lighting mount above the stage but they could always fall because of vibrations of the music making the bolts come loose, this could lead to the lights falling onto performers and audiences, harming them, this could be prevented by adding chains to the lights so if they do fall they’ll be caught by the chains and attended to by a member of the technicians crew. Amps, speakers and the PA system can also be bolted down so if theres high winds they cant move or cause hassle.

Noise levels; having high noise levels can cause injury to a person because our ears are very sensitive, this could happen because of the lack of wearing earplugs while dealing in high volume sounds. This could be prevented by wearing earplugs and not turning up gain or volume unless needed or intended for the song.

smoke machines, flame machines and fireworks; this can be any sort of thing related to combustion, like fireworks, sparklers, flamethrowers, et cetera. these can be risks in various ways like, they could cause fires, explosions can inflict burns if exposed to skin and the fireworks could malfunction and cause harm to To prevent these there must be extra precautions and intense care with these machines
