Social media advertisement – Pre production

We see adverts everyday. If you have social media you’ll definitely see many as you scroll or like. Even if you don’t have social media it is inevitable that you’ll see it. Whether it be on television or on the street when you drive or walk on giant billboards or posters.

All apps like instagram, snapchat, facebook and tiktok use advertisements to promote peoples accounts, certain products that cater to the persons algorithm and what they’d like to see.

When certain advertisements reach their target audience, it is an effective and fast way to connect with your customer and rocket your market campaigns.

Modes of address is the way the marketer targets the audience. Audiences can be informed, empathetic or shocked. Depending on what is being advertised the addresser will try to grab your attention to let you know what and why you should watch their advert.

The reception theory is the process of encoding and decoding. Encoding is the process of turning thoughts and meanings into communications. Decoding is the process of turning communication into thoughts and meanings.

It points out that a film or book has some meaning and the people who watch movies or read books will make a meaning.

When recording the advert i will use different shots and edit it in the final shot. Using a camera i loaned out i will get different shots to see what will work and cut the ones that didn’t work out. When i take out the SD card i will erase the clips i don’t want to use, then input and edit the final video.

For video editing i will try to make the video the best of quality. To do this i will adjust and edit the video. I will try to change the exposure, contrast and adjust vibrancy and saturation. Whatever i will advertise it will be a clean video that will capture your attention and hopefully advertise the product properly.

My video will be shot on a medium long-shot. The game will be the main object that will be shown on the advert. I want it to have bright colours and be visually striking.

A target audience is a group of people defined by certain demographics and behaviour. This means i will be advertising to a certain group of people and make my advert for them. If i don’t make a video that is not for my target audience the video will not be captivating and it will not attract consumers. My target audience will be children under the age of 7.

Social media demographic segmentation is a way to separate you audience based on demographic data such as age, gender and location.

For social media, communication, skills creativity and writing are the essential things any content creator needs. You need the skills to be the best at what you create and provide great content for the people who want to see it.

Social media trends are very important because they can influence your product ideas and marketing campaigns. Keeping up with trends lets you communicate with your consumers.

One example of a social media advert is Gucci guilty. This advert shows Jared Leto and Lana Del Ray and the advert has a very 60’s feeling. It shows film cameras, old diners and vintage cars. The video gives a nostalgic feeling, and shows very retro film shots. They are both wearing expensive clothes (Gucci) and very expensive jewellery.

The JD advert shows a lot of famous celebrities. The start of the advert shows a bright light coming from the shop and people inside as mannequins.

This is an instagram advert. It shows the product clearly and has a link to buy it. Customers can easily access this when they come across the advert. It shows them the price, tax and how long it will take to arrive.

All of my mind maps show what i want my advert to look like, i’ve storyboarded and shown the way i want to film my advert. I want my advert to reach my target audience so i’ve filmed it vertical so i can post it on tiktok, an app used mostly by thirteen to sixteen year olds.
My moodboard that i did with Kenzie Duncan, I went with a minimalism and she went with the retro, vintage theme. The colours relate to my product and helped me visualise how i would change certain aspects of my advert to look more vibrant.
These are the production notes that helped us organise when to film each of our adverts. We all had equal times to film each others videos and helped each other with cameras, the setting and audio.
