Evaluation

My research took a week and i looked into a lot of adverts. I looked into how they filmed these, what music they incorporated and how they got their product across. I looked into youtube adverts with companies like JD and Gucci. They both used celebrities and upbeat music that matched the style of the advert.

I also looked into instagram adverts and how they show their products to the customer. The merchandise is shown clearly, the price and shipping is all shown and offers/deals can be given to the customer.

With filming we all helped each other with the camera and microphone. We managed to get used to used all the equipment and quickly learned how to use it. We went to different setting, tried different shots and everyone in my group got their clips that they could later edit.

The editing process went smoothly, and i managed to put all my recordings together. I then put music in throughout the full advert. I made a logo on premiere pro with multiple images and inserted the picture at the end of the advert. The text was added, including information about the price, shipping and how the game works.

The strengths of my advert has been keeping to schedule and being able to film all of my groups advert on time. We split the time we got in equal parts (one hour and 20 minutes), so we all had a good chance of finishing filming on the same day.

We were successful at that and we didn’t need all that time at the end. Ideas like, where to shoot our videos and how long to make them. We In my group there is Maya and Omar, and we all helped film each others advert. We used the zoom Q8 camera and a tripod to get good, still shots.

We worked well in a team and came up with new ideas all the time. We all had the same product, so our weakness was trying to make different adverts. We all had different timings for our shots, and made sure we were happy with our clips after we filmed them. We tried different locations when filming, so we went off campus and then ended up filming on campus because it didn’t work out.

I have learned how to use a camera and a tripod which i rarely use and it was good to get a feel of the equipment. I also learnt how to edit properly on adobe photoshop and adobe after effects. Adding music and pictures went smoothly and i managed to finish editing in time.

What i could have improved:

If i did this project again i would make the video longer and show the product more and it could’ve given me the chance to add more information. My advert was shot vertically so it was the correct format for TikTok. However if i went one step forward i could have added in trends from TikTok so the video would match for the app.

I could have used music that children listen to so the video would capture their attention. Also adding more information about where to get the product for example writing, link in bio’, or ‘link in the corner of the video’. Many people buy products from TikTok like this and it would’ve been more recognisable as a TikTok advertisement.

Next time when i work with cameras and filming equipment i will have knowledge from this project to help me then. The same goes to using editing apps, premiere pro and adobe after effects. I need to improve on my editing skills and i will slowly learn throughout these projects.

Sound design

Foley sounds are used to enhance the auditory experience of the movie. It can also cover up unwanted noise that would ruin certain aspects of the film.

For the card shuffling video, i would use a book and flip the pages quickly. Or use some thick paper or even just cards to mimic the sounds of the deck. The video was also near a beach. So i would add in ocean and seagull noises.

Foley artists would use a cut up paper back book for the cards and add in some background noise if it was set in a casino.

For the plant jar lifting video i would add in a glass hitting the desk noise. And for the context of the video, it may be an advert or youtube video, so i would add in music or background noises from a household.

For the sound of the cat drinking water we used a tap and made a thin layer of water in the sink. Using that water we splashed droplets around and made ripples in the water to mimic the sound of the car drinking.

The context of our video is, ‘ the night after a party’. To do that we put music on loudly behind a door and recorded with the mic. This gave the idea that there was music still playing in another room.

The cat in the video was moving its head to get to the bottom of the glass. To make this noise we used a sponge and brushed it against a glass.

A foley artist would use glass bottles and floorboard noises to add in footsteps for sound effects.

Social media advertisement – Pre production

We see adverts everyday. If you have social media you’ll definitely see many as you scroll or like. Even if you don’t have social media it is inevitable that you’ll see it. Whether it be on television or on the street when you drive or walk on giant billboards or posters.

All apps like instagram, snapchat, facebook and tiktok use advertisements to promote peoples accounts, certain products that cater to the persons algorithm and what they’d like to see.

When certain advertisements reach their target audience, it is an effective and fast way to connect with your customer and rocket your market campaigns.

Modes of address is the way the marketer targets the audience. Audiences can be informed, empathetic or shocked. Depending on what is being advertised the addresser will try to grab your attention to let you know what and why you should watch their advert.

The reception theory is the process of encoding and decoding. Encoding is the process of turning thoughts and meanings into communications. Decoding is the process of turning communication into thoughts and meanings.

It points out that a film or book has some meaning and the people who watch movies or read books will make a meaning.

When recording the advert i will use different shots and edit it in the final shot. Using a camera i loaned out i will get different shots to see what will work and cut the ones that didn’t work out. When i take out the SD card i will erase the clips i don’t want to use, then input and edit the final video.

For video editing i will try to make the video the best of quality. To do this i will adjust and edit the video. I will try to change the exposure, contrast and adjust vibrancy and saturation. Whatever i will advertise it will be a clean video that will capture your attention and hopefully advertise the product properly.

My video will be shot on a medium long-shot. The game will be the main object that will be shown on the advert. I want it to have bright colours and be visually striking.

A target audience is a group of people defined by certain demographics and behaviour. This means i will be advertising to a certain group of people and make my advert for them. If i don’t make a video that is not for my target audience the video will not be captivating and it will not attract consumers. My target audience will be children under the age of 7.

Social media demographic segmentation is a way to separate you audience based on demographic data such as age, gender and location.

For social media, communication, skills creativity and writing are the essential things any content creator needs. You need the skills to be the best at what you create and provide great content for the people who want to see it.

Social media trends are very important because they can influence your product ideas and marketing campaigns. Keeping up with trends lets you communicate with your consumers.

One example of a social media advert is Gucci guilty. This advert shows Jared Leto and Lana Del Ray and the advert has a very 60’s feeling. It shows film cameras, old diners and vintage cars. The video gives a nostalgic feeling, and shows very retro film shots. They are both wearing expensive clothes (Gucci) and very expensive jewellery.

The JD advert shows a lot of famous celebrities. The start of the advert shows a bright light coming from the shop and people inside as mannequins.

This is an instagram advert. It shows the product clearly and has a link to buy it. Customers can easily access this when they come across the advert. It shows them the price, tax and how long it will take to arrive.

All of my mind maps show what i want my advert to look like, i’ve storyboarded and shown the way i want to film my advert. I want my advert to reach my target audience so i’ve filmed it vertical so i can post it on tiktok, an app used mostly by thirteen to sixteen year olds.
My moodboard that i did with Kenzie Duncan, I went with a minimalism and she went with the retro, vintage theme. The colours relate to my product and helped me visualise how i would change certain aspects of my advert to look more vibrant.
These are the production notes that helped us organise when to film each of our adverts. We all had equal times to film each others videos and helped each other with cameras, the setting and audio.

Post production/editing

Making the logo for my game, i got the images from google and will use adobe photoshop to put these together. I will also add the text of my game name in the middle of my logo.
For editing, i used adobe premiere pro. I added in all the clips that i filmed and put them together. I added upbeat music.
Using after effects to edit and scale my video clips. I will also add text and music to my advert that fits the genre and makes it an enjoyable advert to watch.
I have added don’t stop me now by queen. The idea is that i can’t put this game down and ‘don’t stop me now’.

My target audience is children, and my video is filmed so that it films on tiktok. Lots of adverts are on tiktok and for people who buy products online this video will cater to them. The text i have added in the video shows what the product is and how to use it. I have said the price and talked about shipping, and made it clear for the consumer. My advert is short and upbeat, which is why i think more people would watch it.

I have been using adobe photoshop and have made a logo. The water background is used here because it relates to my game, and the picture is nice and colourful.
I tried to keep the blue theme with the colour of the words of the logo and the words throughout the advert.
I got the pictures off of google and put in the text myself. I used a bubbly font to keep it light and a blue colour to match the background.
