What i want to see in Bradford is more art. More paintings that will change peoples perspective on the area around them.
Art should be all around us and it should inspire people to make their own. I also want it to start conversations and make people more aware about whats going on in the world and alter their views and opinions.
The art around us should be done by local artists, with funding and the right people, we should see more art. The art should show a political message and address social issues so people are conscious of the issues we face everyday.
Graffiti, murals and large scale paintings is what i’d like to see all around Bradford. It would brighten up the city and people living here would appreciate the area more and see a change in the environment.
I will film areas in Bradford that have art done by local artists. Then i will film in areas that have no art, (for example on blank brick walls), and explain how there should be more colour in our lives and how it can impact peoples minds.
I’ll film it with my smartphone and write a small script so i know what to say and hope it is a one minute video, not too long and not to short.
Shanaz Gulzar, Chair of Bradford 2025, has said, ‘This is a huge opportunity to celebrate our extraordinary district and for our young, ethnically diverse population to become leaders…’. For younger, creative people living in Bradford this is something that will go along way for them and even myself. The year is said to deliver more than 100 more performances and events including 365 artist commissions. This also includes major art festivals with great national and international collaborations.
Kingston upon Hull was the second holder of the title in 2017. It was then declared, for the next city of culture Bid , that Coventry would win the title for 2021. The first to win the city of culture bid was Derry, Ireland.
The city will receive £275,000 in initial seed funding to develop its plans for a year of cultural activities in 2025. With my idea of having more art around the city works with the City of culture bid since we are having more artists showcase their work. Art commissions. will be given to local artists and that will help fuel this city’s colour and values. People will enjoy seeing art and i hope it spreads more joy all over the region.
With my video i hoped to improve my speaking in videos. I could have spoke more clearly and maybe said more important points. Positive things about my video is that i filmed in an area relevant to my idea, (filmed next to street art). I made sure i didn’t have to edit and managed to keep the video at one minute. I have never vlogged in public before and this was something i never thought i’d enjoy doing. It was fun to film and i think my idea is very realistic. Art is around us, we just need to find it. For the people who don’t see art or make any, i hope the art we see in the future makes people aware of the problems we face, inspire them to make their own, or just brighten up their day!
