Here are my final three songs:
Song Evaluations
I am very satisfied with how the EP turned out, the sound of each song is very unique and each song works together very well as a EP. The distortion on the guitar of the first two songs provide an interesting sound with the vocals and drums. The last song uses a clear guitar, clear vocals and a simple drum beat which I felt was a good way to end the EP.
However, saying all of that I do think I could have maybe made some small adjustments to my songs, with the first song I could have maybe played the guitar a bit better, with the second song I could have maybe altered the audio so the guitar wasn’t slightly louder than the vocals and for the third song I could have made it a bit shorter as sometimes the guitar may go on for little too long.
Final Project Evaluation:
Overall Learning and Improvement
I have learned a lot about production throughout the project and have continued to become better at guitar by using different techniques like finger picking on my first song of my EP. At first it was difficult learning how to record the songs and write new songs but because of this final project I have definitely improved.
What Went Well
Once I got better at recording and writing new songs the process of creating new music went very well and I defiantly created an EP I am happy about. I also think my lyrics were written quite well and they definitely fit well with the sound of the songs.
Challenges and Adaptions
At first I struggled to write songs that I was satisfied with and because of that I did have to alter my weekly plan slightly, as I wasn’t able to think of lyrics for my first song,I decided to create an instrumental for the first song instead that way I could spend more time writing lyrics and the first song then became the second song of my EP.
Feedback and its impact
I received some feedback from my tutor who suggested that I use a tweed amp for my distortion on the guitar which made the distortion sound better when recording, other than that everything else was completely fine.
What I Would Do Differently
I would have done all of the lyrics for my songs first that way I could focus on chord progression which I find much easier to do.
Final Outcome
The EP was a success as I completed all the songs on time according to my plan and I think all the songs turned out great and met my satisfaction.
