What is sustainability?
The dictionary definition of sustainability states that sustainability is the ability to be maintained at a certain rate or level. “The sustainability of economic growth”
It is the balance between the environment, equity and economy.
Why is sustainability important?
Without sustainability,it is more likely that we would run out of fossil fuels,more animals will become extinct and the air will be filled with toxins.
Why is this bad?
The dictionary definition of fossil fuels states that they ‘are a natural fuel such as coal or gas, formed in the geological past from the remains of living organisms.’
With out fossil fuels national economies would sink into a deep economic depression. Meaning that in the future there will be an increase in homelessness,poverty and unemployment aswell as the increase chance of stock decline that will result in bankruptcy for many businesses.
The increase in animal extinction means that species will have to find new ways to eat otherwise they’ll starve. This can damage the population of other plants and animals. With each species that is lost triggers the loss of other species with in its ecosystem. Humans depend on a healthy ecosystem clean land and water.
Goals
The goals of sustainability are clean water,affordable health care/clean water,economic growth and no poverty.
How I’ve used my research
Our project is about showing the audience the negatives off the world and the damage we are causing to it. Without sustainability our world will no longer be livable. With my research it allows me as a performer to believe in what I am performing and it also makes our performance more accurate, which will have a bigger impact on the audience. It also educates me more about sustainability and has given me facts that will go towards my performance
Devised Theatre
What is devised theatre?
The dictionary definition of devised theatre sates that ‘devised theatre is a process of creating a performance collaboratively’
To devise a peice of theatre it requires an ensemble, the ensemble are the actors that come together and essentially creates the work that will be preformed.
Devised theatre typically works with a black backgrounds and works with miminalistic set and props. In devised theatre it is important to have good improvisation skills because you are creating a peice from scratch with no script and you create a peice and a scripts based around your improve.
This helps with this project as it is a peice of deviced theatre. We’ve used miminalistic props such as toys and phones and a miminalistic set of chairs. The whole point of devised theatre isn’t to be a big fancy production that’s hours long, but a performance that it more smaller and leaves an impact on the audience. Devised theatre mainly focuses on real and social topics such as love, loneliness, history and mental health. For our peice we are doing it about the topic of sustainability.
