Who I am Auditioning for in the curios incident of the dog in the nighttime :
I am auditioning for the role of Siobhan. Siobhan is Christopher’s teacher/ mentor. She is very helpful towards Christopher and ahead is one of the only people that he truly trusts. She can calm him down and helps him understand social situations and people’s feelings a lot better. She is also the narrator and reads from Christopher’s book for the majority of the show. Almost as If she were the point of view of what it’s like in Christopher’s world. She is like a voice in his head and guides him through difficult times. For example when Christopher runs away he hears Siobhan’s voice guiding him in the right direction. She encourages him to write the book and persuaded him to do his a levels.
Our Audition Scene: We are doing Scene 52 school Scene when they go to the school and talk about Christopher doing his a levels. Siobhan’s purpose in the scene is to persuade Christopher to do the a levels only if he want to. She doesn’t want to push him to do it if he isn’t ready, and let’s him know that he isn’t in trouble. She provides a comforting and guiding presence and wants Christopher to feel safe.

This is our the scene we are doing, I watched the scene, to give me an idea of her presence and how she acts. I didn’t watch the whole video of the play, bc I wanted tk add my own spin to it, and portrayed her in the way I feel works. I also didn’t really want to it to be focused on the way she acts in this scene, because ours is going to be different and its our own adaptation of it.

This is probably the most confident that I’ve been in terms of Auditions, in the past I tend to freak out amd get anxious, but I think that I did alright. I did want to stand up so I could really enhance the characterisation but my group didn’t want to so, I did what I could sitting down. If you look back at any of my other auditions over the years when I’m sat sowm my leg is usually shaking due
Acting preparation:

Script analysis of the scene, I gave myself 2 days to lookat the script andread from it then I had to learn it by heart, I gave myself notes on how to do things and how to say them . I filmed myself saying my lines so when I listen to them they can sink in to my brain and i can rememberthem more.
(It’s not allowing me too upload the video of my practicing my lines)
The Vocal Audition:

In terms of the Vocal Audition I wasn’t enitially going to so one but in the end I figured if I wanted a main role I might aswell give it a go. For my song I sang the chorus of ‘heart of stone’ from the musical Six. I choose this because I am familiar with the song and I feel that the it was similar to my range. I only sang the chorus to start building up my confidence and the rest of the song was a bit to slow for me so I couldn’t really get in to it. I practiced on my own when I could and did little Vocal exercises to warm up my voice, then on the the day of the Audition I sang infront of some of my friends, this kinda broke down the nervous barrier. I definitely did better in rehearsals than the actual Audition because my friend had to sing it with me.

I only joined in for the chorus as that’s what we will be marked on. I remember it all and I put my all in to it.
