Rational-
Since level two I feel like I have developed skills such as, team work, creative contributes and confidence. I am good at improvising and I can learn my lines quickly. I have improved with my acting techniques such as facial expressions and body language. At the beginning of the course I was a very anxious and shy person, I didn’t speak to a lot of people and I hated working in a team. I have improved on my fidgeting on stage and I can separate myself as a person to my character when I go on stage. My confidence has improved a lot in two years, I went from hiding at the back of the class and not really speaking, to auditioning to bigger role in the fmp, which Is something I wouldn’t of even considered.
Project Concept-
We are planning to do our own version of the book, Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time. We will be adapting our version differently than how the show is originally presented due to a lack of advanced enough technology for example, lighting effects and physical theatre. We will be putting dance numbers/routines and singing numbers in place of these issues that we will encounter to try help and represent how Christopher experiences life through his eyes, and having to deal with autism. I plan to look into the character of Christopher Boone and how he deals with his autism. Specifically Aspergers syndrome, which is the type of autism that Christopher has. I want to explore exactly what it is and how it effects him as a person and the people around him. And how as my character i can interact and understand with him and what he is feeling. I think that i can also incorporate my personal understanding to Christopher. With experience from having a brother who is high on the autism spectrum, I can understand why he is acting the way he is. Although my brother doesn’t have aspergers like Christopher, I know the struggles of growing up in a house hold with a single parent trying to care for a autistic child.
Evaluation-
For the fmp I am planning to write daily reflections of what we did that day and if we were rehearsing, what went well and what’s something I need to improve for next time. I plan to take pictures and videos of rehersals and practiced scenes so I can look back at them to remember or to learn from and mark how far the show has developed.
Timelines-
Week | Date of the start of the week | Plan for the Week | How will we achieve this? |
Week 1 | 24/02/ 2025 | Do a read through of the script as a class. Then start to block act 1 scenes. | Make sure that I write daily reflections of what we did that day so i can remember what we did and how I can improve. |
Week 2 | 3/03/2025 | Continue with scene blocking and working on the timings of the scenes and the entrances and exits. | By practicing 1 or 2 scenes a day, back to back so we can get in to the mindset of working on more scenes and perfecting them instead of just focusing on 1 scene at a time |
Week 3 | 10/03/2025 | Practice vocal warm ups and songs so we focus on breath control so when we are singing and dancing we don’t get out of breath, and start to look at scenes with out the script. | Spend an hour a day practicing vocal warm ups and physical exercises to get us physically prepared for the show. Start by doing scenes again and again and then taking the script away from them. And setting a deadline when to be of scripts to prepare us to learn lines. |
Week 4 | 17/03/2025 | Focus on scene run throughs, like practicing a scene straight after the other with scene changes and timings. | Practicing again and again to make sure that we have it in our brains. |
Week 5 | 24/03/2025 | Really start to focus on characterisation and adding emotion and feelings in the scene. A nd by this point we should have finished Act 1 and be doing run throughs, including song ans dance in preparation to start act 2. | Take time away rhenium your not in a scene to work on your characterisation. And rehearsing again nd again till we are sick of it. And ask for feed back. |
Week 6 | 31/03/2025 | Start on Act 2, doing a couple of scenes at a time one after the other so we have an idea of what to do . | Rehearsing again and again as well as taking time out to learn new song and dances |
Week 7 | 7/04/2025 | Work on completing act 2 and working on the ending and perfecting it. | start doing run throughs, and film them so we can look back at them and remember what we are doing. |
Week 8 | 14/04/2025 | Full runthrough with tech and costume changes and sound and lighting. | See how long it takes us to do one show and work on timings and adjustments and try and do at least three rehersals a day. |
Week 9 | 21/04/2025 | Full run throughs and dress rheesal in preparation for the actual show. | Practice as much as we can and ask for feedback if we need it. |
Week | Date of the start of the week | Plan for the Week | How will we achieve this? |
Week 1 | March 3rd | Pre-production and Planning. Finalize the script, set design, and concept approval. | Draft budget and timeline for the entire production. And what set is it that we need. Potential fundraising ideas to raise money for it. |
Week 2 | March 1o | Start initial construction steps such as a basic set structure. | Organize materials. Draw detailed set designs so i have an idea of what I need to do. |
Week 3 | March 17 | Set Construction, building and assembling the set. | focused on assembling and buying or renting necessary items. Like paint or boworring props from other apartments. |
Week 4 | March 24 | Continue with set painting, detailing, and texture work. | Doing this when I’m not doing any scenes. |
Week 5 | March 31 | Focus on finalising painting and making of props | Plan any potential last-minute design adjustments. |
Week 6 | April 7 | Rehearse with the set in place to ensure that everything fits and it makes sense. | Practice transitions of bringing in on and of stage, need a plan of who’s going to bring it on and the safety of it with curtains and small doorways. |
Week 7 | April 14 | Conduct full dress rehearsals with actors, making sure they have enough time to practice movements on the set. | Making sure its not a hazard risk and any last minute adjustments are made based on any feedback from the team. |
Week 8 | April 21 | Dress rehersal | Practice and Practice again |
Week 9 | April 28 | Full tech run with lighting costume, and set changes to see if it all works | Rehersals, take pictures amd videos so we know where to put props and set. |
Fundraising Ideas we could do to raise money for the fmp:
- Bake Sale
- Sponsored events like litter picking or cycling
- Guess how many things are in a jar
- Name the teddy bear
Ect. This can go towards things we may need, like painting for set and costumes and props.
