In this process, we emphasized a range of skills, crafting a CV that highlighted not only my musical experience—such as live performances—but also my broader professional background. I wrote a cover letter for a session musician role, in which I discussed not only my recent pursuit of music but also the year I spent in esports. I explained how that esports experience gave me valuable skills—like teamwork and coordination—which I now apply in musical contexts.

Beyond the CV and cover letter, I evaluated my rehearsals, and I took time to reflect on my problem-solving abilities within the band. In fact, I think I did really well in that area, especially in collaboration with my team. For instance, during a gig preparation, we faced a challenge: one of the songs, “Vehicle” by Ides of March, featured a trumpet part, but we didn’t have a trumpet player. So, we creatively solved this by using a synthesizer on the keyboard to replicate the trumpet sound. Another example of problem-solving was in “Rocket Man” by Elton John, where we used a guitar pedal to raise the pitch of a chord gradually, creating a rising effect. We also encountered a logistical challenge: during the gig, we had to set up outside in the freezing cold, and space was limited, so we adapted quickly and just made it work.

In addition to these reflections, I also evaluated my rehearsals, adding a lot of detail about what went well. I’m proud of how I approached this because, even though I wouldn’t say it was perfect, I gave it my best effort, working within the time constraints and my existing skill set. Another important aspect we discussed was community music. We devoted a page to this topic, describing how it happens in spaces like care homes, hospitals, prisons, and festivals. In Bradford, where I live, City Park is a central hub, hosting a wide range of events and festivals that bring the entire community together. I talked about how these events foster inclusivity, cultural democracy, and the accessibility of music for everyone. I really enjoyed speaking about this because it brought back so many memories of when I was younger—going to festivals, having fun, and experiencing music with my whole family. Overall, this project gave me a chance to reflect deeply on my journey, the skills I’ve built, and the communities I’m part of.

I am truly proud of what I’ve accomplished in this project. It allowed me to reflect deeply on my growth, my skills, and my place in the music community. As I move on to my next project, I feel prepared, confident, and excited to apply everything I’ve learned so far.

For Project 2, we began by developing a CV and cover letter geared toward jobs outside of music.
