when I come around, I bet you look good on the dancefloor paranoid Scotty doesn’t know, killing in the name of

When I come around

lyrics: Oh, I heard you cryin’ loud
All the way across town
You’ve been searching for that someone, and it’s me out on the prowl
As you sit around feeling sorry for yourself

Well don’t get lonely now
And dry your whinin’ eyes
I’m just roaming for the moment, sleazin’ my backyard, so don’t get
So uptight, you’ve been thinking about ditching me

No time to search the world around
‘Cause you know where I’ll be found
When I come around

Oh, I heard it all before
So don’t knock down my door
I’m a loser and a user, so I don’t need no accuser
To try and slag me down because I know you’re right

So go do what you like
Make sure you do it wise
You may find out that yourself doubt means nothing was ever there
You can’t go forcing somethin’ if it’s just not right

No time to search the world around
‘Cause you know where I’ll be found
When I come around

No time to search the world around
‘Cause you know where I’ll be found
When I come around

Oh, when I come around
Oh, when I come around
When I come around

I bet you look good on the dance floor

LYRICS: Stop making the eyes at me
I’ll stop making the eyes at you
What it is that surprises me
Is that I don’t really want you to

… And your shoulders are frozen (cold as the night)
Oh, but you’re an explosion (you’re dynamite)
Your name isn’t Rio, but I don’t care for sand
And lighting the fuse might result in a bang, b-b-bang-oh

… I bet that you look good on the dance floor
I don’t know if you’re looking for romance or
I don’t know what you’re looking for
I said, I bet that you look good on the dance floor
Dancing to electro-pop like a robot from 1984
Well, from 1984

… I wish you’d stop ignoring me
Because you’re sending me to despair
Without a sound, yeah, you’re calling me
And I don’t think it’s very fair

… That your shoulders are frozen (cold as the night)
Oh, but you’re an explosion (you’re dynamite)
Your name isn’t Rio, but I don’t care for sand
And lighting the fuse might result in a bang, b-b-bang-oh

… I bet that you look good on the dance floor
I don’t know if you’re looking for romance or
I don’t know what you’re looking for
I said, I bet that you look good on the dance floor
Dancing to electro-pop like a robot from 1984
Well, from 1984

… Oh, there ain’t no love, no Montagues or Capulets
Just banging tunes and DJ sets and
Dirty dance floors and dreams of naughtiness

… Well, I bet that you look good on the dance floor
I don’t know if you’re looking for romance or
I don’t know what you’re looking for
I said, I bet that you look good on the dance floor
Dancing to electro-pop like a robot from 1984
Said, from 1984

Scotty doesn’t know

Lyrics:

Scotty doesn’t know that Fiona and me
Do it in my van every Sunday
She tells him she’s in church but she doesn’t go
Still she’s on her knees and Scotty doesn’t know

Oh, Scotty doesn’t know
So don’t tell Scotty
Scotty doesn’t know
Scotty doesn’t know
(So don’t tell Scotty)

Fiona says she’s out shopping
But she’s under me
And I’m not stopping

‘Cause Scotty doesn’t know
Scotty doesn’t know
Scotty doesn’t know
Scotty doesn’t know
So don’t tell Scotty
Scotty doesn’t know
Don’t tell Scotty

I can’t believe he’s so trusting
While I’m right behind you thrusting
Fiona’s got him on the phone
And she’s trying not to moan
It’s a three-way call and he knows nothing, nothing

Scotty doesn’t know
Scotty doesn’t know
Scotty doesn’t know
So don’t tell Scotty
‘Cause Scotty doesn’t know
Scotty doesn’t know
So don’t tell Scotty

We’ll put on a show
Everyone will go
Scotty doesn’t know
Scotty doesn’t know
Scotty doesn’t know

The parkin’ lot, why not?
It’s so cool when you’re on top
His front lawn in the snow
Life is so hard ’cause Scotty doesn’t know
Scotty doesn’t know

I did her on his birthday

Scotty doesn’t know
Scotty doesn’t know
Scotty doesn’t know
Scotty doesn’t know
So don’t tell Scotty
Scotty doesn’t know

Scotty will know
Scotty doesn’t know
Scotty’s gotta know
I’m gonna tell Scotty
Gonna tell him myself
Scotty doesn’t know
Scotty doesn’t know
Scotty has to
Scotty has to
Scotty has to go

Scotty doesn’t know
Scotty doesn’t know
(So don’t tell Scotty)
Scotty doesn’t know
Scotty doesn’t know
Scotty doesn’t know
(So don’t tell Scotty)
Scotty doesn’t know

That is so bad! So bad

Paranoid

Lyrics:Finished with my woman ’cause
She couldn’t help me with my mind
People think I’m insane because
I am frowning all the time

All day long I think of things
But nothing seems to satisfy
Think I’ll lose my mind
If I don’t find something to pacify

Can you help me
Occupy my brain?
Oh yeah

I need someone to show me
The things in life that I can’t find
I can’t see the things that make
True happiness, I must be blind

Make a joke and I will sigh
And you will laugh and I will cry
Happiness I cannot feel
And love to me is so unreal

And so as you hear these words
Telling you now of my state
I tell you to enjoy life
I wish I could but it’s too late

Paranoid is about a man being on drugs and has paranoia. the writer states that he didn’t know the difference between depression and being paranoid. The song was recorded live in the regent sound studio and Island studios, both in London, United Kingdom. Song was recorded within three days and was used as a filler for the three minutes needed for the album.

Guitar Playing Techniques

Loud –

Techniques I’ve used: I improved on my alternate picking working on this song. It also included a fair bit of tapping, I was working on my precision as the song demanded playing chords and switching to fast runs back and forth. I also worked on my sliding, hammer-ons and pull-offs.

The song background: The song is by Polythia, it was released on ‘The Most Hated Album’ in 2017. I first heard it live watching the band play at Download Festival.

Walk –

Techniques I’ve used: I continued with improving my alternate picking again, as this is the area I need to improve on the most. This song included some sliding that was tricky to perform at first. I also included bending and sliding.

The song background:The song was released in 1992. It’s about the frontman’s frustration with how fame changes people. The greater of the main riff was Dimebag Darrell who played in in the practice session.

Techniques I’ve used: This song included a new technique to me – sweep picking. Sweep picking is a difficult technique mainly for advanced players. This took me months to play, and I’m not quite there yet. The trick is to start slow and increase the speed as you get better. I tend to practice with no effects as that helps me to play cleaner.

The song background:It was release in 2018 in New Levels New Devils. The song was based on Kanye West’s Champions, although it’s hard to tell how. Another influence was Taylor Swift. In creation of the song, an arpeggiator was used and the song uses a lot of minor chords.

Genesis

Techniques I’ve used: This song uses a lot of hammer ons. The unique aspect is that the song implements natural harmonics to a great effect. The song wasn’t too difficult to learn, but it’s groovy and I wanted to improve my rhythm in the process. The guitar uses multivoicer – which I have purchased inspired by this track.

The song background:It was released in 2022 from the Album ‘Remember That You Will Die’. This song featured Brasstracks, a New York based trumpeter and producer. The song draws from Hip Hop and jazz genres. People involved in the producing of the track were: Tim Henson, Scott LePage, Lophiile and Judge.

Performance Techniques

Understanding the role of a guitarist:

one thing to understand when you want to perform with the band as a guitarist will be to understand your bands genre and what they want to sound like when they are live. As an example, you could use certain chords and/or different positions to create a different and unique sound for the genre you are playing.

another way to have a unique sound is to use certain effects such as overdrive, distortion, chorus, harmonisers, and many more.

Attracting an audience visually:

A good way to attract a better audience is what your band presents visually such as your instrument, your outfit for the gig and your personality. Such as going to a rock band dressed standing in overalls, it’s not a good luck for your band as the audience will be looking at your outfit, rather than listening to the music.

listening to feedback from your audience

When gigging for the first time you may receive some constructive criticism. You should always listen to this as a band and improve from that, and next time you are live, you can play better I’m more efficient. Another way of improving would be to record yourself and watch it back after to review and evaluate on your mistakes and improve from it

Promotion and merchandise for your band:

One way of promoting your band is by producing and selling merchandise such as T-shirts, hoodies, coffee mugs. This could create revenue for your band in between gigs, this could also give way for other options, such as buying better gear, such as PS systems and new microphones etcetera to improve sound quality when funds where your merchandise out in public, People will see it and they will discover your band by searching it up and listening to your music, which then increases the audience. also putting out merchandise for your fans will them more emotionally attached with the band. Another way of selling merchandise would be selling your CDs and vinyls for emotionally touched fans that want to physically hold your music.
