What is the piece you have chosen for your initial assessment?
For my 1st video I chose to perform the solo for how to handle a rope. This song was made by queens of the stone age.
Why did you choose this piece of music?
I chose this song for my initial assessment because this song shows my alternate picking and hand synchronization skills at the moment. As well as this I chose this piece because it was one of the first medium level solos that I have learnt so far and it shows my progress throughout the year.
Another reason I chose this song is I really like this piece of music as it is really fun to play.
What was successful about your performance and why?
I think this performance was successful because it shows me in my comfort zone and what I play like when nobody is watching, as i sometimes mess up when performing in front of people. I also liked when i switched from power chords showing more originality in my cover.
What wasn’t successful about your performance and why?
When completing my initial assessment I made a few mistakes such as the end of the solo where I have to play a bit faster, I think I struggled with this part of the song as its a very hard part of the song as you have to play the notes very quickly. I had some timing issues due to the song being quiet to me because I record with my headphones on my desk.
I learnt the solo on youtube as there was only one tutorial video to be found. EDIT- the video must have been removed as i cant find it
