In terms of personal performance. I believe my presentation was good. I had set out the slides well, with lots of information for me too read and for the audience to absorb. The slides were presented nicely, with a great color scheme, foreshadowing the vibe of the single that I am going to release. I believe I took initiative to add slides that other people didn’t have in theirs. I touched heavily on the financial aspect of the project which is very easily overlooked. I also included information about how I am going to send it out to artists, which avenues I will take and how this will help improve the final result of my project. However, I am afraid that in doing so, I have overlooked some important information that needed to be included. Such as timetables, and what my progression will look like from the start of the project to the end. I do believe that I could have spoken louder during my presentation. It was also made clear to me watching this back, that I could have looked at the audience more. I was glued to the screen, I think this was caused by nerves. Contrary to popular belief, I am not the most confident public speaker. However, I do believe that the job was done correctly, and I got to the end of my presentation with very minimal stop and starts. If I could do this presentation again, I would add some bullet points and talking subjects that could break up my slides a little bit. This way I wouldn’t have to read off the board, and can react to/discuss peoples opinions with them.
Questions:
The first question that I got was “What social media platforms are you going to promote on?”. This is a very good question. I began by telling them that Tik Tok and Instagram are my main sources for promotion. Instagram is the leading social media platform, and has been for some years. Tik Tok is quickly growing, and getting ready to take that spot from Instagram. These are the reasons that they are the main platforms I promote my music on. I alto touched on ‘X’ more commonly known as ‘Twitter’. I don’t use X that much. Maybe it is something to look at during this project.
Another question I got is “What will you use for Artwork?”. The photos that I actually used in this presentation, are all options for artwork. There are photos that I have collated from a contact. They are said to be pictures from inside a room in the infamous Techno club in Berlin ‘Berghain’. Whether this is true or not, I do not know, but they are high quality, interesting images, and I believe one of them would make a great single cover.
I got questioned about my events company during this presentation. BULC Events is a company that has been operating for around a year, founded by me and another partner. I was asked if BULC would have any involvement with this project. I will be playing the track at the next event which takes place on the 24th February 2024, and then this can be uploaded and evaluated. However, I don’t see BULC being a part of this project from that point onwards.
Perhaps the most commonly questioned aspect of my presentation was about my use of samples. My production style is very sample heavy. I believe that a good foundation for a track can be made by chopping and messing around with samples. Other Producers and artists can often be very critical of this. However, If you look at some of the greatest House producers of our time (such as Daft Punk) their production style is also EXTREMELY sample heavy. Programming instruments into the project does not have the same energy and flow that a sample can have. I believe an element of human touch is what separates great house tracks from the rest. I show great use of this in one of my most recent tracks ‘El Ray’. I will leave a link to that below.

Cody gave me some interesting feedback, most of which was positive. Cody was very complimentary of my presentation. His first point being how clear and concise i was when explaining my project. I believe this to be true as I got all my points across and explained the project in detail. One of Cody’s criticisms was that I should have added a timetable of when I am going to work on each aspect of the project. I think this is a really good idea. People seemed to get confused on how long this project is going to take me, and when I am aiming to complete each part. Adding a timetable/ time frame for my project would help people get a better understanding on how I have planned the project.

Kaitlyn gave me some really great feedback. Although, it was similar to Cody’s. Kaitlyn believes that I delivered my presentation with detail. She said that she understood the premise of my project clearly and what my focus’ are. This seems to be the consensus amongst my peers. In terms of development, Kaitlyn also said that I should have added a timetable/timeframe for my project. I believe this to be true, as I have said previously. Adding this in to my work will give me a better presentation and make it easier for people to understand not only my aims, but when I plan to achieve them. Another great piece of feedback to refer to when working on my project.

Jay gave me a lot of feedback. Quite a lot of it was ideas for improvement. Jay liked my work on research and monetization. He believed that they were important points to make. This is something that no one else included in their presentations. One of Jay’s points of development was to speak louder. Upon watching the video back. I did read off the screen quite a bit. I think this was to do with both nerves and discomfort. This is not something I usually do, but is definitely a skill I am trying to develop. When doing a presentation again, I will take these notes on board and try to speak more confidently.
