Introduction

In this project, I aim to further my understanding of a process that I have little to no experience with, studio recording and practice. I have sat in on a few studio sessions with bands in the past, but have never had one myself. It will be a hard project to get through, as recording and performing in a studio is a tedious and hard process. There is a lot to learn and a lot to remember. Everything from the setup of equipment right down to the final mix and master of a track has to be done right in order to produce quality music. Although this may be a challenge, I am confident that I can learn this process and use it later in my career.

My aim in life is to be a producer. I would like to carry on producing my own music but also produce music for other people. If I am going to do this I need to learn the process of recording in a studio and all the things that go along with it. my research will be thorough to ensure I completely understand what I am doing and what I am working with at all times.

Project 2 Feedback:

I managed to achieve a very respectable grade during project 2. I am extremely happy with the grades I have been given as a lot of hard work went into making that project a success. I aim to do the same with this project. Project 2 taught me how to use two different DAWs, this is something that I never thought I would learn. It also furthered my understanding of music theory, which is a skill that is massively transferable. Learning even the basics of music theory can greatly improve your creativity and songwriting process. This will be a huge help when producing new tracks and writing new songs as a band. I am very excited to get out tracks recorded in the studio as I think we have a great, professional-sounding track that could definitely do us good. The hard work I put into project 2 will pay off and the skills I have learned can be transferred to this project.

As said previously I have little experience with studio recording so it will be a challenge. However, I am willing to give it my all. I am excited to learn all the different processes and practices that have gone into making some of my favorite tracks ever. Working in the studio is not just a skill that you can use in your music career but it also teaches you qualities that employers in other fields of work would also look for. Working with people in a studio requires good communication. This is important in nearly every job in the world. It also increases your ability to work as a team and solve problems. These are other qualities that are very important also. Here are some things I need to improve on to make this project even better than the previous one.

Firstly, I need to develop my research. I have no problem with research and I am not too bad at writing. But developing my research that little bit further will help my work be more professional. I need to give detailed evaluations and explanations about everything I do in this project. Doing this will show that I not only know how to do something, but I also know why it needs to be done and the proper reason for doing it. Everything has a reason, and that reason needs to be explained in its entirety to make my work the best that it could be.

Secondly is Harvard referencing. This is not something that comes naturally to me, as I am not the type to copy big chunks of text from websites and forums. I take tiny bits of information and combine them with my own knowledge to create my work, However, I now realize that every little thing that I take from a different resource needs to be referenced, This is just so it covers my back and is eligible for marking. I don’t want to put loads of hard work into a project for it not to be marked. This, like most things, is something that will come with time and practice.

Lastly, I need to be more involved with the band project. As playing an instrument and live recording isn’t my strong point, I tend to take a laid-back position on this process. To make this project better than the last I need to be more involved. The writing of the song has passed, but I can definitely be involved with the recording of our song and make some important decisions. The band can only benefit from my help.

If I do all this, which I will, then this project is shaping up to be even better than the last. My musical skills are developing more and more each day and I am excited to learn something new.
