Final Song and Evaluation

Our Final performance.

To say we didn’t have long in this project and we had so much to do I’m very happy with how this song turned out. We came together as a band and composed an extremely strong track. With more time I’m sure we could have made adjustments and polished the track but for the time we had and all the missing band members, I think we have done a very admirable job.

The intro sounded really nice with Robert’s vocals slowly creeping in behind me and Isabelle’s instruments. The vocals were only added today and ended up sounding very nice. The intro vocal is only one phrase that is said a couple of times over, but it fits perfectly with the vibe of the track.

The track goes into the verse. This is where the track picks up a little bit of pace and starts to get more lively. As soon as we wrote this riff, we knew it would fit really nicely with any vocals or drum pattern. The riff gives me an almost nostalgic vibe as it sounds very old school. Isabelle does very well at keeping the riff going on the beat and maintaining the same pace.

The pre-chorus sounded really nice with just the bass and the drums, and then Robert’s rap verse over it sounds perfect. It sounds just how we imagined it in our head and really adds another element to the track. The improvisation by the guitar and piano also sounds very nice and stops the track from getting boring. There are many different elements to the pre-chorus but not so many that it becomes complicated.

The chorus is my favorite part of the track. The soft mellow energy it brings really creates a contrast between itself and the rest of the song. It keeps reminding me of the Gorillaz song. The double chorus at the end also sounds really nice with a heavier drum beat. The only thing I would have added to the chorus is a vocal melody and lyrics, but without Aimee, we were unable to do that.

All in all, I think this track is at a very good level. Of course, there are improvements that can be made like adding more vocals, tightening up transitions, and learning our parts better, but for the short time we were given and the couple of rehearsals we had to do, I think we have done a very very good job. The band should be really proud of themselves as we have created a good song. I am excited to carry this on into January and get it recorded in the studio.
