Final Performance

Final Performance

From start to finish, this was a great performance. Everything from the running order all the way to the music that was played was great. Everyone did a fantastic job and there were little to no mistakes. The only thing that bugged me was how long it too people to set up between sets/songs. I feel like it left the audience distracted sometimes. If would could have cut this down, it would have made the event even better.

One of the only mistakes I spotted from our set was mid-way through “I Wish”, Robert stopped singing and something happened to Amy’s mic. Apart from this small mistake, everything ran smoothly. Our set sounded great and was definitely an improvement from the dress rehearsals. As always, if we could go back in time and change some things we would, but for the amount of time we had to rehearse and prepare, I think we did a great job.

Once again our stage presence was great. This was mainly down to robert. He had complete control of the crowd and was connecting with them. His use of comedy really got the audience on board with us, and established us as something different than the other bands. This was a clever idea. We also interacted with each other throughout the performance which added something else to our set.

Our timing and rhythm had definitely improved from the mock and dress rehearsals. The songs now sounded to be the right tempo. I couldn’t pick out a certain point where anyone was out of time or playing the wrong section. As I said before, the set was very cohesive and ran smoothly. I feel that everyone stayed in time with each other, including myself.

I believe I was proficient with my instrument. While my parts were not overly challenging, they contributed to the song nicely and helped the transitions run smoother. I don’t believe there was any technical mishaps in the set. From watching this back, I seemed to have kept in time and played all of my chords/keys at the right time. A good performance overall.

My highlight of the performance was the end of Uptown Funk. This was a great idea and really made the performance feel special. To see everyone on their feet clapping for us was something different. I felt the audience really enjoyed this part, and left with a smile on their face. The only part of our whole performance I would change is the fact we all felt very glued to our instruments. If we moved around a little more, or sometimes looked out into the audience a little bit, I feel like it would have taken the performance to a different level.

Overall, I think our performance was incredible. We really pulled together a great set and left the audience feeling good. With the such little amount of rehearsal time we have had, I am extremely proud of how proficient and professional we sounded. Despite the very minimal mistakes we made, I think we put on a great show. As well as performing, our group organised the whole event. I think we should be very proud of ourselves on how we have handled such a big task. We have put on a sold out event, which not only showcases what we can do, but also what other students can do if they join our course. The show looks great for the College and great for us. If I could change one thing, it would be to have different sections of the show for different genres, because sometimes the jump between genres is quite extreme. But that is only a nit picking point. A great show and a great experience.
