Whenever a venture like this starts, there are always problems and hurdles that surface. We have been given the task to identify these challenges, and work our way round them. We need to focus on what BMT can do better, and also what they are already doing to a high standard.
What do they need to do better on?:
I think one of BMT biggest challenges is their demographic. THey are heavily aimed at the older generation. THis is no fault of their own, that is just the age that largely populate the area of bingley. If they can move away from being so heavily aimed at this demographic, then they may have a better chance at expanding their reach and the movement behind the organization.
A way they could do this is promotion on social media. BMT lacks proper social media marketing, and that is a huge problem. The majority of the younger generation consume content through social media, there are not many other ways to reach them. If BMT set up properly on platforms such as Instagram, TikTok and X, then there is the potential to reach the younger generation on a large scale. Posts can be viewed millions of times all over the world in a short space of time. If you can crack the algorithm, you will have a strong platform to push your agenda.
Where are the gaps and opportunities?:
Bingley already has some great venues and events that take place in the town, this leaves them with multiple open gaps the can take advantage of. For example, Bingley has a festival once every year. This is attended by a large amount of people, a lot of them being a younger audience. BMT could use this to their advantage.
If BMT were to promote their organization at the festival, they would be able to reach a lot of people. Many different people, of different ages, of different backgrounds. THis could prove very beneficial. BMT could capitalize on the success of the festival and try bring people back for future events. If people enjoy their time at the festival, they are very likely to come back to bingley to see other live music performances. I will identify some of the other gaps and opportunities on the “Assets” page.
What small things would make a difference?:
Just simply pushing the name out would make a difference. If you can try and push the name and advertising everywhere in the town, people will soon become familiar with it and remember who you are.
You could try putting posters up in different music venues, or leaving leaflets in different coffee shops and restaurants. This way people will see the promo material for BMT and may even pick up a leaflet. You need to convince people that what you are doing is really important, and convince them that it is going to make a big change in the town. People like to be a part of movements, convince them to be a part in this one.
