For a first rehearsal, this was not too bad. We are just clearly lacking confidence. There are many points where Nic had to point us in the right direction to get us to the end of the song, but as I said, not awful. My own performance was shaky, but as I said previously, it was not bad for a first rehearsal. Here, I was just getting to grips with what part I was playing. While it wasn’t the most complicated, I wanted to do it right so I don’t let the band down. With such an iconic song, this needs to be done right. We didn’t have the ending down here, but that is something we can work towards next rehearsal.
This was our second time practicing this song. It is starting to sound really good, and very well put together. Of course, it still needs some work, but these are things we can iron out when we run through the song again. My personal performance of the song was very good. This was the best time I had played it. On the video, I can not be heard very clearly, but the fact you can not hear me very clearly means I was in time and not playing notes out of place. I believe that I contributed to the song rather well. Halfway through the song, Nic came over to offer some advice of different rhythms and chords that I could play to make my part more interesting, I will take them on board and use them in the next rehearsal.
The more we rehearse this song the better we get. The song is starting to sound cohesive throughout. Nic had to help me at the start, as I was getting a few notes wrong. Apart from that I believe my performance was decent. We just need to work on the transitions between sections of the song. Once we get that nailed, we will have a great sounding track. We made a mistake during the middle of the song, but quickly got back on track. Robert really struggled during this rehearsal, which really knocked us all off. Luckily we managed to carry on. I also messed up towards the end, but that was quickly resolved. Overall, a decent rehearsal, and this song is in good shape.
Again, for a first rehearsal, this was not bad, but similar to “I Wish” we are lacking confidence. That is expected during the songs first rehearsal. I don’t believe my performance was too bad during this rehearsal. I seemed to be playing all of the right parts at the correct time. My parts are not very vital to the song, but they add some layers and help carry it along. Nic came over at one point to give me some tips on how to increase my performance, I will take them on board. The rehearsal was shaky, some parts were strong and some not as much. However, for a first rehearsal it is in a great spot and will sound great in the final showcase.
This is our second rehearsal of Aeroplane, and despite the shaky start, you can hear we have improved. The song is finally coming together. The problem I found at the start was that all our levels were wrong, I remember that I could barely hear myself. This needs to be fixed during the next rehearsal. Another problem that I realised watching back is that the song was played too fast, this is not a major fault, this can be fixed easily. For a big chunk of the rehearsal we were working on the end of the song. I like this way of rehearing, focusing on the problem that is decreasing the quality of our performance. I made a few mistakes during this rehearsal, but I think we all did. We are at a good level for only being three rehearsals in.
Throughout the rehearsal process and the end performances, I believe that this was our best song. The reason being because it is the song we practiced the most. From beginning to end, we had the groove that the song needed. In this particular performance, Marcel stepped in to help Robert on the vocals, as he was struggling. At this point we really close to the showcase, so need to be getting this nailed. I believe we can do so, with just a few more rehearsals. There is not too much else to comment on this rehearsal. It went well, but needs work to be ready for the final performance. At the end of this rehearsal, we were ready to move on to our final song.
For the first time running through this song, it really did not sound too bad. We had Marcel helping us on this rehearsal, to add some extra layers and help Robert reach the notes that he can’t. Nic helped me again during this rehearsal, as this was an entirely new song for me. For a first rehearsal, this could have gone a lot worse. We had the idea to transition the bassline into white stripes, and create a sort of medley. This would end up working out really well. At this point we had Amy come in to help us further. As the band gets bigger, we get stronger. The ending needs major work, and so does the general flow of the song. But for a first rehearsal of this song, this was not bad at all.
This was our final rehearsal before the mock, and real performances. The song was in much better shape this time round. It flowed a lot better, and started to form properly. I Think my performance was quite good, I seemed to be hitting the key parts of the song and also adding bits of my own in. This song was nearly ready for the stage. I am surprised we got to this point so quickly. I am happy with the progress that was made this far, with not many rehearsals. This has the potential to be the best song of the night, it just needs a little more work.
After this rehearsal, we are ready to move on to our mock, and final performances. I believe that we are ready, we just need to run the set a couple more times. Hopefully we get a chance to do so.
