Distribution

For my Distribution service, I have chosen to go with DistroKid. DistroKid is the leading music distribution service in the UK and offers timely uploads of your music to all of the big streaming platforms. I have been using DistroKid for around 3 years now. 3 years ago is around the time where I moved on from SoundCloud exclusives, and decided to get my music heard in other places. DistroKid has never let me down in the time I have been using them, this is why I have trusted them to upload this track on time and at a a high quality. There are many packages that you can get when you sign up to DistroKid, but I have gone for the simple package that I pay for annually. It has done the job so far.

DistroKid was created in 2012 and launched in mid 2013 as a side-feature of creator Phillip J. Kaplan’s social network. The service broke off in 2015 and that’s where it started to gain traction from all over the world. DistroKid does not take any commission from the music it uploads, which allows some of its highest-earning artists to keep all of their profits. This is great, as if I ever get to the position where I am making good amounts of money, I keep 100%. The service has no plans to change this feature and I think that is great.

I now have all of my artwork and promo material ready on the 10/05/23. I have already uploaded my track to DistroKid and scheduled the track on SoundCloud, ready for its release on the 13/05/23 at 18:00. The friends and family that I have shown this to already have give me an overwhelming reaction. I am expecting good things from this track. If I can get 100 streams by the project deadline, then I will be very happy. But of course, I am going to aim higher. The next step is to wait for the release and wait for people opinions to come in.
