Project three was a very enjoyable project as we got to learn about screen acting and all of the behind the scenes part. Learning about screen acting and how it differs was really interesting. I also enjoyed learning the director side of things. However, this project was quite difficult, learning the script and blocking the scene was familiar as we’ve done it before, but moving it into a different room was quite stressful, especially with the small amount of time we had to prepare ourselves. Before we did this project, I thought that screen acting was easier than stage acting because if you mess up on stage you have to quickly cover it up so it isn’t obvious to the audience but when your acting for screen, if you mess up a line you can just retake the scene. I realized that it’s actually very different to that as we only had a short amount of time to film. The TV studio gave us an hour and half for each group, which at first seems like a lot of time but after setting up all the tech, we realized just how much time we had and we had to take a lot of the scene’s due to us messing up lines or tech issues so we only got half an episode done which I was still very proud off.
After we recorded our episode, we were directing the other team which was a lot of fun. It was a slow process while we positioned the camera’s, having to retake scenes from different camera angles and when someone forgot their lines, same to our group and we only managed to get halfway through their episode too. I really enjoyed the directing process and learning how to use the camera’s and switching between the different angles.
Editing the video’s together, in my opinion, was the hardest part of this project. It was very slow and it was hard to cut the scenes together, especially when it came to lining up audio. It was difficult to get the hang off.
Overall, I am proud of the outcome of this project and really enjoyed doing something new. It was a quick process that i wish we got to spend more time because it felt like it went by really fast but I think my group did really well with what time we had and I would love to do a project like this again.
