Initial ideas

  1. I’d like to work on a solo musician setlist so i can start gigging by myself and getting grips with that side of my career. The songs i’ve been thinking of doing are below.
  • Jeff Buckley – Lover you should’ve come over
  • Jeff Buckley – Mojo pin
  • Radio head – Creep
  • Nick drake – Pink moon
  • Jeff Buckley – Dream brother
  • Amy wine house – Back to black
  • The smiths – I know its over

Most of the songs in that list i already know so that would make it a more realistic challenge.

2. Doing a TOOL song with Jospeh singing and doing bass, then me on guitar.

We chose this specific TOOL song as its one of the few TOOL songs that doesn’t have complex drum’s, vocal and bass parts. The main reason we chose this song was for the vocal part as Joseph has a really good voice thats similar in tone to the singer of TOOL and Jospeh has never sang before so it would be easier on him.

3. Learning ‘Mr.Crowley’ solo from Ozzy Osbourne. It contains a lot of Classical style solos and scales, also fast wide finger stretching shredding and licks too. Learning this solo would benefit me a lot as it has advanced tapping techniques, harmonics and fast shredding that i cannot do currently and will make me more accurate and precise in my guitar playing.

4. Learning some basic music theory like Learning all the notes on the fretboard, major and minor scales, classical scales, pentatonic, and the circle of 5ths and basic chord names.

5. Learning ‘Eruption’ would really be beneficial for my guitar playing development. It has the same techniques as ‘Mr.Crowley’ but also has advanced tapping, tap harmonic and harmonic licks added too, it’a a lot shorter of a song but it’s also a lot harder to play due to how much shredding and little techniques there are in this song.
