P4 Showcase final performance

What went well

Lover you should’ve come over: The intro went well, with the guitar suiting the way I performed the song and the vocals being on time with. I remembered the structure spot on too. Also my mic control was pretty decent too.

You really got me: The intro, outro, solo was so well timed and something I’m so pleased we got spot on. Also most of the little solo bits that are thrown into the song I did pretty well accept not hitting the pinch harmonics. Also stage presentation was alright on this on too.

Voodoo child: The intro went so well as everything was almost spot on like the Wah intro, timing and just everyone’s playing overall. Also compared to past rehearsals the breakdowns and remember when to come into choruses was a lot better as that was a weak point.

What went wrong

Lover you should’ve come over: Sometimes for the high notes my voice cracked reaching the peak pitch of the note and my strap fell down and instead of just leaving it, i stop playing which disrupted, also I didn’t wait for the crowd to strop clapping to introduce Ethan with his project bass. The syncing with timing for the vocals and guitar could do with some practice too.

You really got me: The tempo of the song was slightly faster that the original, and I was playing the guitar riff a bit rushed. When the breakdown happened the vocals were a bit off and a bit too quiet. Also for the little solo bits thrown into the song I didn’t hit the pinch harmonics for most of them.

Voodoo child: A main issue was that I kept accidentally turning the Wah on and off un intentionally because I hadn’t practiced playing with the Wah with shoes on. The guitar playing whilst singing the vocals could do some work as some of the bends were not on pitch. Sometimes my playing would just randomly stop too because I hit my palm onto the strings.

What to improve on for next time

Lover you should’ve come over: Need to practice the powerful and high notes more because my voice cracked attempting them. Also the fluidity of switching chest to head voice needs some more work as sometimes switching would cause the pitch or volume of my voice to change. I also need to wait for the crowd to stop clapping to announce Ethan onto the stage.

You Really got me now: I started off the song too fast causing the band to play faster too so I need to practice with a metronome more. Practicing using pinch harmonics would benefit a lot too as most of the time I just didn’t hit them correctly. At the breakdown my vocals could use some work too as they just sounded a bit off to me almost off key.

Voodoo child: Definitely need to practice using the Wah more with shoes on because I was accidently turning it on and off when I wasn’t meant too. I need to practice the faster solo bits more too because my technique wasn’t as good as I wanted it to be and didn’t sound that clean. I need to practice more with playing and singing with this song more especially as the guitar harmonising was a bit off. Palm placement needs to be improved as sometimes I would palm mute causing the guitar to mute.
