What went well: Im really happy with my composition and the overall dynamics of the song, i think the clamy soul of the verse mixes well with the more heavier chourses and non of the song feels rushed or unfinished to me, accept the mixing. I love the drums at the start and in the 2nd chorus it really makes the song more exciting because of all the fills and differnt techniques that Abi chose to do.
what went wrong: I was going to play the bass for my own song, but I wanted the maximum quality for my song so I asked a bass player to do it, they showed up and hadn’t had an idea how the song went so I just did it instead. The mixing for the drums is a bit off in areas, sometimes the mid and high tomb are too loud our quiet and same withe snare, kick, low tomb. Basically the whole kit. Definitely should of spent more time in these areas mixing. I never ended up putting vocals on the track as I couldn’t come up with a melody pleasing enough to my ears and felt it would of ruined the song.
what I could do better next time: Practicing the song a bit more as at the start you can hear a failed pull off from the guitar at the start of the song . And making sure if I ask people to participate in my song that they are genuinely willing and wanting to do it so I don’t have a lot of wasted time. Also spending a bit more time mixing the drums as in some areas of the song with parts of the drum kit was too loud or quiet. I should of started with changing the lyrics and practicing the melody for my song a lot earlier, as instead I procrastinated and never got a result I wanted, next time I’ll be doing this a lot earlier as I really wanted to make a whole song and sort of disappointed myself.
