Pigeons project, FMP Level 3 Year 2

My final piece, due to the size I had to photograph it from above meaning some colours and such will not be accurate to real life.

At the beginning of this project I had made a calendar to try and keep track of my progress and where I should be working out for certain times in my project, however I misplaced this and had instead attempted to make a plan week by week which unfortunately also failed. This is due in part to my own memory issues and issues with schedules that need to be addressed for any further work on this or any other course as it has heavily impacted my academic career over the years.

Another aspect I have failed to cover much in my sketch book is my research into our clients, a supply company called ACCU. It supplies mechanical parts to small businesses and individual buyers due to a lack of single purchase items for some smaller parts like nuts and bolts. There new warehouse is large and spacious with lots of room for displaying art pieces of many kinds for staff to view and enjoy so I knew after our visit that I did not have to worry about the size of my work but bigger would indeed be better. My use of nuts to make my pigeons also creates a personal link to the company as they sell nuts of all sizes on their website from the information provided to me by our guide Alastair.

There weren’t many environmental issues when it came to my work, I printed what I needed and if I accidentally did more then I used it for other things, including giving them to one of my friends who has since used them for wall decoration which I am personally flattered by. Ethically of course I did not want to frighten the pigeons by getting too close so good pictures were rare without the telescopic lens graciously leant to me by the college over the weekend when I would go out and photograph pigeons for my project, some of which were later used for my final piece.
