The song

Cherry’s Star

This is the final product of my song. On the 17th of May I sent it to CDbaby, a distribution center and on the 31st of May the song will be released to most streaming platforms including Spotify and Apple Music.

I think the song overall is good, but could be so much better. Because I went to Italy at the start of the project I missed out on 3 weeks of college time, meaning I was already behind everyone else who were still in college. This meant I really only had 5 weeks to finish my song, get it recorded and mixed, which put a lot of pressure onto me. I rushed getting the lyrics done so I had time to record the song but it meant we were unprepared when we started recording the vocals since Lacey was nervous and we had little time practicing the lyrics. In the end, after some pitch correction, the vocals sounded alright even with the slightly mess up of editing in the first verse.

Music wise, I think all the instruments were recorded and composed well. The only problem I have with it is the drums. Since Ollie didn’t show up to class the morning I needed to record drums I had to get Lewis to play them for me which meant they weren’t the exact drum rhythm I had in mind, however the drums aren’t terrible and I didn’t have enough time to rerecord the drums again.

The main problem with the song is that I just didn’t have enough time to do everything I wanted to a high standard, including the mixing. The mixing could be so much better, I didn’t even have time to master the track as I was still finishing off mixing on the last day of college. This meant I had to quickly finish it and get it to a distributor otherwise I wouldn’t have had a song to release.

Altogether, the song is really good and if I were to remaster it in the future it could sound so amazing.
