Before we went to start the recording process we went to the live room to mic all of the instruments up. This included knowing which microphones needed to be used for which instrument. For example you use dynamic microphones on kick, snare and toms whilst the 2 overhead mics would be dynamic as they are more sensitive.

We then had to connect the mics to the digital stage box using leads. The kick drum went into input 1, snare top into input 2, snare bottom into input 3, high tom 4, middle tom 5, floor tom 6 and overhead left 7 and overhead right 8.

Once we did that we went into the studio and checked all of the volumes making sure the gain was going up to but no further than -6 and made sure they weren’t clipping. We recorded all of their parts at the same time apart from the vocals and the guitar 2.
