Walkthrough
This was the run through of the starts and ends of all our sets so we could practice what to say when we come on stage and where to go when coming on and off the stage. I feel it went okay but seemed a little awkward as Lacey keeps looking at me and asking for confirmation to see if she said things right. This is because it was her first time performing in front of people when singing and didn’t know exactly how it worked. To improve for the actual performance we just need to work on what Lacey she will actually say to the crowd and work on being less awkward on stage.
Mock Performance
This mock performance was okay but at the start of our set the sound of my guitar wasn’t coming through the speakers which made me stress, and then there was feedback before we started playing. This meant i was slightly worried for the actual performance because i was worried that it would happen again. Apart from that the mock performance went alright, however in Videogames i went out of time quite often so that’s something i need to work on. Another thing is that i didn’t want to stand up as it was harder to play standing up and i kept messing up on the bar chords. There was also a part in Starlight where Lacey lost her breath which sounded a bit odd. We will practice in the few hours before the performance to try and work on it.
Final Showcase
I think everyone in the showcase did really good, everyone was dressed nicely and everyone kept the audience engaged in what they were playing. Mine and Lacey’s performance starts at 41:49.
I feel like our performance went well overall, there were only a few mess ups and they were hardly noticeable. I feel Videogames was our best song we played even though we had been practicing Karma Police for longer. This is because in the third verse of Starlight Lacey messed up the lyrics and her confidence went down quite a lot. This meant that Lacey kept fumbling and lost all confidence in herself.
Guitar wise I didn’t mess up once, however I did struggle with some of the bar chords. I had to change guitars after the dress rehearsal as Lewis couldn’t get the tone right rom my guitar, so I used a college guitar. This meant I wasn’t as used to using this guitar but I still did a god job. I personally likes playing Karma Police the most as Radiohead is my favourite band.
If i were to do this again i would have made sure Lacey knew exactly what she was doing because most of the last minute adjustments were put straight onto us. However, we are both planing on doing open mic nights in the near future over the summer to build both our confidences to perform infront of a crowd.
