Introduction

In this project, we will be learning how to record and mix a song. We will be using the song we made last term to record however because of band issues I and the singer from smoke break will be creating a song in the first two weeks before having to record. We will learn how to mic up each instrument and what different types of microphones do. We will learn how to record using the mixing desk whilst using Logic in the studio. After we have recorded the song we will mix it to how we want it, for example adding an electric drum kit or adding a sting arrangement etc, and cleaning up any parts that are not as good. Now i will review my strengths and weaknesses from project 2 and apply them to my project 3 work.

Strengths for project 2:

  • I was creative and created very original songs.
  • I composed out of my comfort zone by using different time signature than 44.
  • I was a key member of the band by being confident.

Targets for this project:

  • I will work on finding and noting down research that is relevant to the project by searching for mixing techniques, different types of microphones, how to set up a recording studio etc.
  • I will work on going into deeper detail on my evaluations by using better vocabulary and by explaining how and why we do certain things.
  • I will work on my technological skills so that i can understand mixing and how different things affect the music.
