There are 2 types of microphones: Dynamic and Condenser. For a podcast I would use a condenser mic as it has much better sound quality, and I won’t be moving about a lot so there is no need for a dynamic.
As someone who has recorded podcasts before, scripts have never worked for me. However, notes on the topics you want to talk about makes you just talk about it without the need of a huge script which for me is difficult to read.
Script
Hello everyone welcome to Conspiratheory, my name is Henry. Today I’m going to talk you through some of the most famous conspiracy theories of all time. Lets get into it.
Moon landing
On July 20th 1969, American astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin became the first humans ever to land on the moon. However, many people feel as though we never actually got there and it was instead filmed on a Hollywood film set. This isn’t just an olden days hoax aswell, it might have had more believers in the 1970s with 30% of the American population but today up to 6% of people still believe that or in numbers almost 20 million people. That is just insane. I honestly thought as a society we were evolving but this is just straight proof we are just going backwards. Bill Kaysing was the man who started all of this back when his book We Never Went to the Moon: America’s Thirty Billion Dollar Swindle was published back in 1976. This guy was kinda legit aswell, he worked at a company called rocketdyne which made the fuel for some spaceship. But because of these credentials, people believed him. Even today 1 out of 6 brits TODAY believe that the moon landing was staged which is just unbelievable. I’ve never been so embarrassed of my nation or I haven’t been so embarrassed of my nation in a while. Either or its a tricky one. Personally I would like to believe that the moon landing was infact real, as I think it was a huge success for not just America but all of humanity.
Flat earth
Now we all know about the big sphere of rock floating through space called earth, or do we? There is a society with millions of people who all believe our earth is flat. I mean to be fair I completely understand why they think this because seriously for a moment just sit and think it does make sense, like I get you but your dumb. Anyway they have these huge conventions and I mean like HUGE and tons of people come and look around. Now, wether the people visiting genuinely believe it or not is another thing but I tell you something the people who do believe are dedicated. ‘Mad’ Mike Hughes was a major flat earth believer and then one day he had the genius idea of building his own rocket and flying it to space to tell the world once and for all that the earth is flat. Unfortunately, his homemade rocket unsuprisingly exploded and mike died. But this is an amazing demonstration of how mental these people truly are. Personally, no I don’t think the earth is flat. But… there’s always a but. But if I went to one of these conventions and I was just walking around speaking to them I would probably start believing them. I feel like I’m very easily lead and too open minded and id just believe them instantly. I just don’t like how hostile they are when coming up with this stuff…they are just mental.
Lizard People
Okay, this is a fun one. I found a group of people who genuinely believe that our leaders, politicians, actors, musicians or literally any public figures are secretly shape shifting lizards. I know it’s amazing. They believe that these lizard people are all plotting world domination. I’m not evening joking every single bombing, shooting, any sort of attacks were all planned by a group of these secret lizards. David Icke is basically the man behind the myth on this one. He is an ex-footballer and ex-bbc sport reported who wrote a book called “The Biggest Secret” which claimed members of the royal family are just reptiles in crowns. It’s one of them things where its so mental I’m actually starting to believe them. Like seriously for one second imagine you see Beyonce on the streets and suddenly she turns into a lizard and slithers back down a drain, if you told everyone no one would believe you! but it’s extremely unlikely so I’m going to have to disagree with this one.
Thank you so much for listening. This has been Conspiratheory, I’ve been Henry Mulligan, Good day and goodnight!
For the opening jingle, I found some loops on GarageBand. I used the “Breathless Piano” which gave the track a creepy vibe, connecting to the theme of conspiracy and supernatural things.

I used the volume sliders to make the advert feel more clean and professional, as the advert before felt too clunky and slightly off.

I wanted to add a metallic/robotic voice at the end of the opening jingle saying “conspiratheory” but then when I actually finished I decided it sounded better without.

I began editing up my audio by first adding the intro. Having an introduction jingle makes the podcast feel more professional.

I then wanted to cut my clip up because I realised I misspoke so I found where I wanted to edit and placed my marker there.

I then split the clip and then deleted the middle. I did this throughout the whole of the editing process.

After I finished editing I put the “Narration Vocal” filter on my voice to make it sound more professional. This changed the reverb and ambience among other things which I then edited until I was happy with how it sounded.
