My YouTube channel’s genre will be mostly themed around comedy. I don’t want the channel to conform to one type of video, but still keep the same sort of feel with each one. On YouTube there are a large number of creators who create these simple sorts of videos with fast paced yet simple editing. Bill Wurtz, for example, makes videos that are extremely edited with a lot of cuts and strange images and this makes for really funny content when used in the correct way. Because of how the videos are simpler to produce you can spend a lot more time working on a script, comedic timing, video topics, etc. This also means if you had a small idea that maybe couldn’t be a huge video you could create a smaller video and post that on YouTube Shorts/TikTok while also keeping the theme of your channel and funny ideas while also being able to post your videos across several platforms, therefore making your audience grow.
The content will consist of little things that could need explaining, like how does english football work, how does parliament make laws, how does a business stay up after going broke, etc. I would also do shorter form content through YouTube shorts/Tiktok which will be shorter versions of the YouTube videos ending on a cliff hanger so you go and watch the video on YouTube. I would also have a sort of vlog series called “Henry does” which will be part of the shorts/tiktok posts, showing my life and how I am in real world situations makes the audience relate with me more and then makes the main content even better.
My video will be called “history of bradford city football club, i guess” which is a nod to Bill Wurtz “history of the entire world, i guess”. The title is pretty much self-explanatory but I will be going through the history of Bradford City Football Club. However, it’s going to be told and shown in a way where anyone could watch it and understand it as I’m going to add graphics such as how the leagues work which make it really easy to understand for audiences. I’m hoping to get the video somewhere between 6-10 minutes, although I feel like it could be shorter so audiences are more likely to pay attention the whole way through. I think 6-10 minutes is the perfect length for a YouTube video as it’s long enough for good content, however not too long where the audience gets bored quickly as with YouTube viewers tend to watch shorter content because it is a lot less time consuming.
This project means a lot to me as Bradford City is not only the team I support but the city I was born in and lived in my whole life. A lot of my friends and people in my life don’t particularly enjoy football, however it is something that means a lot to me so making this video explaining how the club works and the history behind it helps me to show my friends how football is entertaining and hopefully even getting some people to get into football. The video explains everything in a very simple way making it so it is easy for people who may not understand football, understand how everything works within football which can be confusing for beginners to grasp.
The demographic for my video will be more teenagers and young adults as there is a rise in young people being less interested in football. The way the video is edited is “Get Z” humour which some older viewers may not understand, so I want to try and not alienate any of the older viewers so I’ll try and have that element of humour while still making it enjoyable for all.
I will not be using swears or more “edgy” humour in this video as YouTube tends to age restrict videos like this and that is really bad for views and overall engagement on your channel, this way adhering to YouTube’s community guidelines. There is a few parts where I used copyrighted music, Many men by 50 Cent and Boys Are Back In Town by Thin Lizzy, however I avoided a copyright strike by using under 5 seconds of the audio which YouTube doesn’t flag. This isn’t the best, but its a good solution to using copyright music in your videos and I only needed it for a short time anyway.
Script
Welcome to Yorkshire, home of yorkshire puddings, yorkshire tea, dame judi dench, sir patrick stewart, ed sheeran and most importantly, bradford city football club. This is a club that has been through the success and glory of the premier league and a whole lot more of relegation and suffering currently stuck in the 4th division of the english football league. But for you to understand this better, please go on this journey with me while i explain the history of this club in 10 minutes. Get ready, your in for a ride.
Heres all the stuff you need to know before we begin. This is the clubs badge, a claret and amber shield with the initials BCAFC across it. Underneath is a banner with the clubs nickname “the bantams” and a bantam on top for, i dont know good luck or something its cool i dont need to explain it to you. The club plays at the Valley Parade stadium in, you guessed it, Bradford and have one of the most iconic stadiums in the whole of english football. I mean come on, just look at it! The club play in claret and amber, and thats it lets get cracking.
The beginning.
We start in 1903, when manningham rugby club decided “no you know what sod rugby” and became Bradford City Football Club, instantly getting promoted to the second division of england football. that tastes like promotion get ready to see that clip a lot. It didn’t take long at all for Bradford to find some success and in 1908 they got promoted to the first division of english football for the first time. You heard me, first time and definitely NOT the last. In 1911 came the clubs first trophy when we beat newcastle in the FA Cup final, which still appears above the clubs badge today. It was also this year bradford got their highest league position to date, 5th in division one.
Relegation
After world war one the club began to struggle and got relegated for the first time in the 1921/22 season and 4 seasons later dropped down into the 3rd division. Shambles. After the world war 2 things did not get better in the slightest with after mediocre for years in the 3rd division we dropped again down into division 4. And after this things got even worse as the club had to be saved from insolvency. It stayed like this for a while so lets just fast forward a bit to the 80s
The 80s
After many years of hurting bradford finally got promoted to the 3rd division in 1982 and not long after won promotion to the 2nd division in 85 but this was also one of the saddest years in not only the clubs history but in english football as a whole. On the 11th May 1985, during the last game of the league against licoln, Valley Parade caught fire. The flames injured 265 people and took the lifes of 56 others. Because of the stadiums wooden roof in the main stand and a massive build up of litter underneath the seating it was ignited by a cigarette which very quickly set a light to the rest of the stand. This tragedy is remembered by fans yearly with a service to remember those who lost their lives that day and there is even a memorial in city park in bradford city centre. After this Bradford was seen as a good 2nd division side and in 1988 made a big push to get promoted just falling short in 4th place. However, just 2 YEARS LATER we were back down in division 3. An awful time to be Bradford City fan.
The Richmond Era
In 1994, a new chairman came in by the name of Jeffery Richmond who promised fans that theyd see their club in division 1. Clearing all the clubs debts and bringing in new manager chris kamara unbelieve jeff highlights the club then got promoted up to the second division and then under manager paul jewel we then got promotion up the holy grail that is division one for the first time for 77 years. We survived in the holy grail that is the premier league for 2 seasons and then found ourselves dropping right back down to the fourth tier after going into administration. Brilliant.
2010s
The club all of a sudden found it self in the league cup final while still being in the fourth division. I know what your thinking, did I miss a part? Nope. thats it. Nothing for years and then the league cup final. Not only making it to the league cup final may i add but beating three premier league teams wigan, arsenal, aston villa and then losing 5-0 in very bradford style to swansea city in the final. We also won promotion that year in the play off finals to the third division so the 2012/2013 season was one of the best seasons bradford has ever seen. We would also later beat Chelsea 4-2 and sunderland 2-0 on an FA Cup miracle in 2015. God bless the magic of the FA cup.
Today we sit in the fourth division of english football still and while really struggling in the league, we’ve made to the quarter finals of the efl trophy which i must admit, gives me some real excitement for whats to come.
