Throughout my whole time creating this advert I have made many changes to it along the way. From mere effects to scrapping whole clips.
Here is an example of my development:
Originally I decided to edit my advert on after effects however soon realized that it wasn’t efficient or easy to operate for the specific task I needed to do, with was rope all my clips together to create the best advert I could. After a period of. day trying to operate the software I decided to use premier pro as after effects was confusing and complicated. My inexperience can also be viewed from the way my clips were laid out. The way I had ordered my videos made the process a lot harder for me to get my head around. Here is a clear yet more confusing look at the way I set out my clips. After effects is an animating software and I was warned by peers that it would be ineffective to use for our specific task however thought it could be mastered quickly. I eventually realized I was wrong and scrapped my original idea.
I felt that my after effects layout was extremely confusing and inn efficient to make a fully functioning advert. I tried to learn the mechanics of the software whilst creating the advert which meant over complicating a lot of things. In after effects overall there was more cons to pros as I had no clue about the software at a deeper level to produce something successful. I did however manage to make the first half of my advert flow with multiple clips following after each other in chronological order. The reason I stacked my clips so haphazardly is because I was thinking that was how it was supposed to be I had no real concept of layering clips and creating an efficient work space. I ended up not knowing how to use it and scrapped it all together.
The experience of using After effects was more of a bad one as I had no real understanding of the software, layering affects and transitions. I had previously used after effects to animate certain short video clips however never a longer project like this one. the clips were un evenly timed along the beat and there was no professional finish to it as a whole. Making the change to after effects necessary.
After moving to premier pro I began to order my clips in a fashion that made it a lot easier to edit and improve. As visible from the screen shot after moving to premier pro my clips are stacked in an orderly fashion meaning they are easier to improve and edit. I placed the longer videos at the start showcasing the bracelet and moved into the fast paced snippets of the product. I also made many key frames so the videos can fit the beat of the advert and give it an overall professional effect.
This is an example of my original lay out of my advert and before I made my drastic improvements. The advert included slow paced clips which were not very engaging or up beat. The videos were mainly just me walking or the bracelet being on wrist. There was no special effects or any transitions to rope the whole advert I together. At this moment in time I was only getting to grips with the software and understanding the main controls to operate it. The music was slow along with my clips meaning my advert was boring and didn’t have the energy I needed to sell my product. it didn’t match the Halloween theme that my commercial needed.
In conclusion I overall think my project was a success because although i finished it I also learnt about the difference in software and the difference in operating the two work spaces. I could have initially started with using premier pro and had more time to work on my advert and complete it in a shorter space of time which would have given additional time to work on my evaluation and description. That in turn would have enabled me to think deeper and more extensively on my color choices and what they symbolize.
I researched many Halloween adverts to see the similarities between them all and observe themes present in them to incorporate into my own production. An advert that really stood out for me was the Asda 2017 Halloween advert. It incorporated many themes I used in my advert such as the smoke for example.
The smoke i used at the end of the advert to establish the ereey atmosphere i was trying to achieve. In the Asda advert it showcases clouds hovering below the moon which looks eery. So instead of clouds i used to smoke because my advert didn’t include images of the sky so clouds would have made no sense. Smoke was the only option after clouds as they look similar and give off a mysterious look
The Asda advert also included the color green which was very convenient for me as my bracelet was green and black. Meaning whatever color scheme was used by Asda went with green. so i used the dark theme in my advert to create the Halloween effect that i needed with black as the ending. I also used green screen to match the color of the bracelet and that was my own decision and idea to make it my own.
I researched the symbolism of the color green on Halloween and found out it symbolizes monsters lurking in the shadows. which is the reason why I included it as the main color in my advert. Its the most loud and prevalent color in my commercial because of its symbolic meaning and the mood it gives off.
The black which i added at the end was done after researching about the colors symbolic meaning and it was tied to death and darkness. Making me more inclined to use it in my advert as black is the main colour when focusing on a scary horror theme.

This was some of my original research i did about my advert as Ive mentioned previously I planned to use after effect to edit my commercial
