Social media adverts research

Social media adverts are served to users of social media platforms such as YouTube, Tiktok, Instagram, snapchat and Facebook.

Example of a social media advert from snapchat

This is an advert found on snapchat, targeted at students encourages mainly young people to consider doing BTEC higher nationals. This advert has been placed very purposefully in between a video showcasing a barber cutting hair in a modern and trendy way. Btecs are extremely popular for young people and offer new and exiting paths of education rather than the standard A level qualification. The video itself attracts young people, placing an advert about higher education here would make sense considering the target audience. The advert addresses the issue of higher education which is something extremely important and at the forefront of the audiences mind. The advert also shows a person looking to be breakdancing which again is an attempt to relate to the trendy nature of young people. The advert plays on the interests of the audience to convey its point across which is clever. We have now addressed the pros of the advert now we move on to the cons. There are close to no flaws to this advert but the only thing I had noticed is its inability to capture the eye. The colours seem to be very dull and boring, I think that the advert would have been a lot better if they were more bold and loud. This would have helped scream everything young people are known for and meant it would be more relatable and convincing. The text is very formal which in my opinion doesnt fit in with the theme of the advert and clashes with the aim of relating to the youth and being trendy and modern. It takes a direct approach in adressing the issue of BTECs.

This is an example of an advert on Instagram that addresses the issue of women’s gut health. The person who’s page this has appeared on is most definitely a female either 60 or above. This is a targeted advert placed here intentionally to relate to the target audiences interests. The advert takes a formal approach in addressing the issue at hand. It uses big bold words with a bright pink colour to captivate the readers eye, without them having to analyse or click but actually just scan. The heading is enough to push the message of women’s health thus the aim of the advert is completed. The ad is successful in pushing forward the message of women’s health however lacks the detail required for someone to research further into it. Keeping the eye catching title there for people to briefly scan is still a good idea however having more detail beneath it for people who aren’t scanning would also be a good idea. As we can see from the screenshot below, 80% of women aged 60 or over are more inclined to take health supplements which means that an advert based on gut care is extremely relevant and a prominent issue in the heads of women in that age group.

This is an example of an advert found on Facebook, this advert is an example of a prize vacation. As an ad it achieves what its set out to do which is for people to enter the `Farm to Wok Sweepstakes` to win a vacation. The target audience for this advert is most likely adults over the age of 25 as its a relaxing holiday for two, most likely couples. The ad shows the scenery of a beautiful landscape which captivates the audience leading them to look into it further and try there luck. Its very aesthetically pleasing to the eye and the glasses full of wine at the forefront of the advert emphasize the relaxing nature of the vacation. I don’t see any flaws in the advert as it does everything its set out to do. It encompasses the idea of a relaxing getaway. The glasses of wine and the background blend well together and there isn’t any colour scheme that stands out uncomfortably to the eye. It all comes together successfully to create the peaceful atmosphere and setting. Within the UK’s regular wine drinking population, the proportion of mature drinkers (aged 65+) has risen from 22% of all UK regular wine drinkers in 2015 to 27%. Meaning there are more people to target and the market is now larger.

An example of an advert that included movement

This advert advertises the product Coca Cola and is a video advert. The advert uses a fish eye lens to make it seem retro to bring back the memory of the summers that are remembered by people. The background is blurred and distorted which further emphasises the red logo of the brand on the bottle. The target audience varies from children to adults as coke is a drink that can be consumed by people of all ages and it generally ranges between 10 to 25 years of age with coke seeing a peak in the number of consumers around ages 17 to 18. The ad uses a filtered lens to make the colour of the coke look more delightful and appetising. Coca Cola is the most popular soft drink in the United Kingdom and has the largest sales in convenience stores in the UK. The cinematography of the advert was very interesting as it used snappy quick shots and smoothly glided into next ones. Zooming in on the small details like fizz popping out of the glass and zooming out to reveal the final product that is the Coke. Using a mid shot to focus on two aspects of the product which is the coke bottle and the glass with the drink inside it. Having these two things in front of a blurred background makes them extra eye catching and gives it a more polished effect.

The advert could also improve by the coke logo being a more vibrant colour and this would make it pop on screen and bring the retro theme the ad is trying to attain. The advert overall achieves its aim and beautifies the brand to attract people into purchasing the product and is successful in this aim. The text in the advert which is the white Coca Cola logo is very large and big to catch the audiences eye and inspire people to buy their products. It takes a formal approach however includes a funny font and effect to make the text stand out and give it life.Posted on16 September 2022Leave a commenton Social media adverts researchEdit”Social media adverts research”

Review

My video could be improved in many aspects. One of them being having better video quality. This could be achieved by having access to a better camera that camera should be a professional one in order to give the viewer a better experience whilst watching my video. The camera could have also been placed on a tripod which in the end would give it a smoother feel with less inconsistent shaking and movement being present in the video. Now that’s the visual aspect out of the way I can move onto sound. I could have used a microphone over the video in order to make my voice clear and audible. Although I did place my voice over a muted video it still lacked the high quality sound in some places as phone microphones can only do so much. Recording a setting with a more interesting and engaging background would have been more effective in grabbing the audiences attention. I filmed a barren field in order to argue my point of wasted land being a problem in Bradford. However recording a more engaging setting would have overall improved the quality of my video. If these main areas could be targeted and improved my video would be a lot more professional and higher quality.Posted on11 September 2022Leave a commenton ReviewEdit”Review”
