The arrangements to travel down to London were cancelled as tube strikes were prevalent and on going. So in order to find something productive to do, I decided to create a podcast discussing how my events idea would help engage young producers in Bradford. I thought to make a podcast talking about the pros and cons of each idea for young producers. This will give the listener a balanced overview on what works and what doesn’t leading them to the same conclusion of what works.
Digital content creation (plan)
Type of camera- Cannon camera
Advantages for vlogging
All in all, the Canon EOS R8 is a vlogging force to be reckoned with. The Canon RF-S 10-18mm F4. 5-6.3 IS STM is the ideal vlogging lens for APS-C cameras, with one of the widest angles available combined with an incredibly light weight and compact form.
Disadvantages for vlogging
- Only 2 custom modes (C1 and C2).
- Changing Focus Mode (AF to MF) is not accessible via the Q menu.
- Poor battery indicator (no percentage reading).
Type of camera- Panasonic LUMIX S5 II 12
Advantage for vlogging
The Panasonic LUMIX S5 is an excellent hybrid camera for its price and class. It’s somewhat ahead of its time for video features, rocking 10-bit internal recording and 4k at 60 fps before these features started to become more commonplace among consumer cameras
Disadvantage for vlogging
The Panasonic S5 isn’t designed for action video. It’s too big to be mounted on a chest or helmet rig and isn’t waterproof. Its high frame rate options are also somewhat limited in 4k, though it does have a slow-motion mode in 1080p.
Type of camera– DJI Osmo Pocket 3
Advantage for vlogging
“The all-new Pocket 3 features a powerful 1-inch CMOS sensor that puts detail-rich imaging right in the palm of your hand. With a 2-inch rotatable touchscreen and full-pixel fast focusing, go horizontal or vertical for more precise awareness and control. 4K/120fps, three-axis mechanical stabilisation, and a host of intelligent features make Pocket 3 ready for any moving moment“.
Disadvantages for vlogging
Their isn’t any disadvantage with this camera
After conducting in depth research into different variations of cameras to find which one would be suitable, I came to the conclusion to go with the DJI Osmo Pocket 3. This was because of its unique characteristics including: its small size ( making it easy to manoeuvre), its amazing camera quality, simple use and modern features such as AI features.

My podcast idea
My idea to create a podcast was solely because the media museum were extremely unreliable with arranging dates. I needed a plan of action to be able make use of my time and remain productive. The whole purpose of the media museum trip was to create digital content to tie in with my events idea (linking with turn it up). However, as that idea was out of the picture the next best thing was to make audio content.

Evaluation
Overall, my project had its ups and downs, but I’m pleased with the outcome despite some initial challenges.
The research aspect of my project was incredibly successful, providing me with a well-rounded understanding of various camera types and podcast examples. Delving into the details of different camera models allowed me to grasp their unique features, functionalities, and suitability for different purposes within my project. This in-depth exploration not only informed my decision-making process but also empowered me to make strategic choices regarding visual content creation. Similarly, studying a variety of podcast examples gave me valuable insights into effective storytelling techniques, interview formats, and audience engagement strategies. Analyzing successful podcasts helped me identify key elements that contribute to their popularity and impact, enriching my own podcasting approach. Overall, the research phase significantly enhanced my project by equipping me with the knowledge and inspiration needed to produce high quality content.
One of the biggest strengths of the project was my adaptability. Despite the media museum’s disorganization in arranging dates, I didn’t let that throw me off. Instead, I chose to create a podcast, which turned out to be a fantastic decision. It allowed me to maintain momentum and deliver my content in a new and engaging format. Another positive aspect was how I utilized my performing skills. Leveraging my background in performance arts, I was able to inject energy and passion into the podcast, delivering a strong performance that resonated with my audience. This really elevated the quality of the content and made it more impactful. Lastly, the resilience I showed throughout the project was a key factor in its success. Despite the setbacks caused by external factors, I remained determined and focused on finding solutions. This persistence paid off in the end, as I was able to overcome obstacles and deliver a project I can be proud of.
The main issue that hindered my project was the disorganization from the media museum. Their failure to arrange dates to meet with me created uncertainty and frustration, which could have easily derailed the entire project. It’s disappointing when external factors beyond my control impact the project’s progress. Additionally, the reliance on external entities like the media museum made me realize the vulnerability of the project. Depending on others for key components of the project introduces a level of risk that I hadn’t fully anticipated. In the future, I’ll need to be more proactive in establishing clear communication and solid plans to minimize these risks.
In conclusion, while the project had its challenges, I’m proud of how I was able to adapt and ultimately turn things around. The podcast format ended up being amazing, allowing me to showcase my talents and deliver a project that exceeded expectations. Moving forward, I’ll take the lessons learned from this experience to ensure smoother project execution and minimize the impact of external factors. In the future I will look to establish clear communication and understanding between me and the external entity.
