hello my name is ashley and this is project 1 Devised theatre
devised theatre is that we are given a stimulus to work from and we create a piece from that stimulus our stimulus is sustainability so last week we were given our assignment briefs and our task was to create a piece around sustainability dance United are coming in and help with the project on Wednesday the definition of sustainability is to avoid the depletion of natural resources like wood and other materials when making a devised piece you need to think on the spot and create a piece the props we need and develop that idea into the final piece then we perform to an audience
Research on devised theatre/context
Devised theatre is when you are given a piece of stimulus and then you develop ideas from that stimulus This morning we started to develop ideas around sustainability we developed our scenes around sustainability with some movements involved As the weeks go on we will add to them when dance united come in we can show them what we have
sustainability is one of those topics with a lot of facts and figures like the earth is what we have in common the social issues around the planet is slowly dying due to us using too much plastic and the planet is heating up the three pillars of sustainability are people, profit and finally planet the government has launched a plan called net zero it is meant to reduce 100 per cent emissions into the atmosphere so that the UK will be removed from carbon in the atmosphere we need to be net zero by 2030

the videos above are about what sustainability is and what we have done today
on Tuesday we had our first dance session in the afternoon and in the morning we were set a task to develop scenes around sustainability then on Wednesday we had a workshop with Dance United all day first in the morning we had to dance to music and jess filmed them and upload to or teams page the pieces were
then on Wednesday afternoon, the extended joined us for the same workshop but we did something different the same person was in but it was different tasks we had to do lifts and turns some people fell and others didn’t it was amazing we learned new skills I am more confident with dancing now and I can now achieve more confidence with more stuff around the dancing part of the course the first workshop went well with plenty more to come over the coming weeks the new stuff in this year course is that we have new opportunities coming my way over this year
the video above shows what we did in the dance session on Wednesday morning with Jess when the person came in from Dance United (I don’t know her name) Romina we did the workshop with her the morning and the afternoon workshops with her and then we two upcoming Shakespeare workshops
all I can say is that I am looking forward to this year
today we extended our chair duets by dressing up in costumes and using props I think today went well we updated our pieces
the video link above is what my group did today
the song that we have used today
my peer observation from today
the video above is what we were doing this morning with Steph we were doing poetry work in the scenes we filmed and that is the video the idea was that we had to say a bit of a poem while we were acting the scene out in between

this is one of the videos that Jess filmed the other day last Wednesday
production for the production part we will need costume backgrounds and for ours, we are going to be wearing black or brown and holding leaves
this is the last week before we perform next week so we are starting to tie it all together we added a bit extra to the pieces this morning a whole new poem at the end of these pieces now we have to put it all together since the show is next week add on from the morning I feel like this project is well to say this is the first project
well here we are the last week of the project I can’t believe that the project is nearly over
the video above is When I Grow Up from Matilda, which is the final piece of our project our show is nearly done we just need to put it together
risk assessment
tripping hazards: on the stage like chairs you trip and you could break or twist your ankle
light breaking: if the light falls and it is near you or on top of you let’s just say that you won’t be walking for a long time
risk/hazard | actions to be taken | risk 1-5 | likelihood 1-5 |
tripping | move all props off the stage before the show | 3 | 3 |
lights falling down | fix the light on properly and tighten the screw-up | 5 | 5 |
we had a full rehearsal this morning and I think it went really well it was the timing was a bit off but we got there in the end I think that we should keep running through it till Wednesday
I have used my research for this project to show in our piece and it gives the message on how we can change the world to stop it from dying
so this project is done the viva video will be coming on soon when they are filmed on Monday
