Project 1: Evaluation

So to begin with I came up with the idea to create a story book at first I thought it could have been a normal reading book so I chose another thing which I am good at and that is podcasts!.

Evaluation of Project 1

  • What was good?

Great story idea and structure

I kept to my timetable

The first time I had independently completed such a project

  • What was not so good?

Podcast needed technical improvements e.g. mono on both speakers ( look at Lewis’s feedback)  Also needed the script to be read

Cast members kept leaving so I had to look for replacements

My illness prevented me from being an important class on editing and this may have affected the quality of my podcast

Finishing the project too quickly- it was rushed.

  • How would you improve it?

Redo the podcast according  to the feedback and  find a better place to record, I recorded the original podcast in a room with a lot of echo

Find new cast members ( one/two)

The topic at hand

The topic we was all given was storytelling which we could do in any form the options were:

A short film

A digital storybook

A storytelling podcast

To start of with I began to write my story which is called New Order which is now available on Soundcloud. I wrote all of the script out and kept making changes to it.

Here is the first chapter of the soon-to be book more on that later.

After finishing the script I then moved onto the action plan which i religiously followed to make sure i stayed on track if I had an sick day or a day where I needed me time.

This basically allowed me to have a set period of time each day giving me one thing to focus on then preparing for the next day this timetable I created for the project really helped me.

The positives and negatives of the project.

During the project I ran into many walls I had to get around in order to get the product I wanted instead of a version which I was not happy with the following:

Positives

  1. Great story idea and structure
  2. execution was successful and enabled me to branch out into the creative field
  3. Great usage of the action plan timetable
  4. The project (for me) being a one person thing.

The negatives are

  1. People kept dropping me meaning i had to get other people constantly
  2. Having a day off due to sickness meaning loss of important lesson
  3. Finishing the project really early.

The start of pre production

So it was time to start pre production and I was ready to record my podcast which I did successfully and then went onto Adobe Audition 2023 to edit it.

In this screen you can see the editing process on Adobe Audition 2023 which for some reason took me a couple minutes to get around the software as I have never used it before.

The final Product

After editing I uploaded it to Soundcloud and made it public so my family memebers

After uploading my podcast to Soundcloud I then shared a link to Facebook where my family and friends could listen to it and give me feedback on it here is what they had to say-

Dad – “Well done son!, I liked the theme of the story and the direction you could make this a big thing.”

Auntie- “Very good dear nephew, you could have improved the sound quality a bit more but overall good job.”

Those are two examples of feedback I have gotten from family members there is a lot more feedback but I only wanted to get two pieces due to there being many responses.

I think if I had allocated myself more time instead of finishing the project early and moving onto the evaluation I could have made the podcast more lengthier and have included more things inside of it.
