Evaluation-
During this project I interviewed my friend on the topic of racism. The reason I chose to do this project is because I believed that many people within Bradford College are facing racism due to the amount of people within college.
I chose this topic as I am from a mixed-race background. My dad’s family is from Pakistan and my dad and uncle suffered racial abuse as they were growing up in Bradford. This made me feel quite sad and I hoped that things had changed as society has become more tolerant and knowledgeable of our ever expanding culture.
During the recording process the things that went well is: The lighting was set up perfectly so it would brighten up the interviewee’s face due to the room’s lighting being dark. The lights I used for this are studio lights to which I placed on either side of the camera so that the lighting came from two different angles at 45 degrees. Another thing that went well is the audio process. The reasoning to liking this was because I used a piece of equipment called the lapel mic which is a microphone you can clip onto your shirt usually used to sync up audio.
During the project I came across some barriers for example when I typed in “racial hate crime” it came up with other hate crimes such as: Homophobia, Transphobia, Islamophobia and many more. So, to narrow it down I had to only search for racial crimes throughout the district.
So, to combat this I had to take my research outside of the country. And to my surprise there was a lot of information that I have gathered upon doing so.
Conclusion-
During this I have learnt that sometimes to get what you want you have to look deeper into what you are researching about and that if you look hard you will find what you are looking for.
