Final Song and Evaluation

This track is a 6:14 song with 3 different beat switch ups and is a mix of 90″s Hip-Hop and modern day trap. Each beat within the track has a different subject and it goes from older hip hop to newer trap, this is a great juxtaposition from start to finish.

In my opinion it turned out very well. The vocals were recorded in good time so I had time to start the mixing. Lyric wise, there was a few places where I could have been better lyrically which could have improved the song overall. The beat is very well produced and is one of the best pieces of electronic music I have produced on Ableton. The only issue I have with the beat when I look back and listen it is that it might be “too dark” and “too low” and that could be improved with some of the beat changes. I could have increased the pitch of the sample and maybe done some BPM changes. These will benefit me in the future when going to create a track.

I made the right choice to mix on Ableton as this gave me a better idea of the mixing tools. I also enjoyed it a lot more than I would do if I was using logic for the whole process.

The length of the track is almost double what I had in mind in my presentation but I think it turned out really well and it fits the whole vibe for the song. The final product is something I have listened to and is at a good level for myself. I think the contents of the song matches what I had in my head and perfect for the next Album I have planned.

I have showed some of the track to friends and the only advice they gave for me is to shorten the song and maybe do another track with a different sub-genre now that I am getting into the lyric writing process a lot more. I am confident that the song I made is at a good standard for where I am at at this stage in music.

The inspiration for this track is my “comeback to music” song as I have been away from releasing music for about a year and a half to two years. I wanted to make it lyrically stacked and I want the beat to be something catchy and you can chill and vibe to (that’s why the sample with the singing vocals were used). There were little to no obstacles that I had to overcome while making the track. The only “issues” that I had was recording the vocals and wanting them at a good level.

This process will benefit me in my future. The production skills i have learned has helped me with making beats (in different sub genres). This project has covered all areas of practical skill is need for my preferred area in the music industry. The songwriting and lyric writing process has helped me and especially as I did this independently.

In the future I will continue to release music but at a higher standard with self discipline over the tracks I create. The lyric writing process has been a great experience and good practice for what I want to do. In the future I will also plan out what I want to do more as this can give me time to do the appropriate research as well as any skills I need to work on.

For the art work I will be creating some further down the line for the next whole project I create. For promotion I plan to advertise the song on social media sites such as Twitter, Youtube, TikTok, Instagram and snapchat. I plan to release this track when I have enough songs for my next album further down the line. I will be releasing this through the service I use called “distrokid”. When it is rebased it will be uploaded to all major streaming platforms and I will earn 100% of the profits that the track/tracks made. For now I have uploaded it onto sound cloud on private as if I want certain people to listen to it I would just send out the link. This will stay the same until a future release.
