The first recording i did for this project was helping the level 3 band mic up instruments, control the MAC in the control room to record them playing their song snake eyes. This was the first time mic’ing up to record something inside the college, we use XLR cables, condenser and normal microphones in order to capture all the sounds from the drumkit, amps for the guitars & the bass. Then had them sent straight into the logic pro in the control room ready for mixing & playback.
On this topic I have helped record multiple instruments, including mic’ing up and mixing a piano for Luke & Olivers song.
To do this I had to apply some of my knowledge from live sound. The problem I had to overcome in this situation was the real piano was a room away from our box for the mixing desk input. To overcome this we had to connect two XLR cables together to create a longer input, so we could reach the mic setup in the piano room. We were then able to get input on the mixing desk and record the piano.
