Initial assessment

WHY DID I CHOSE THIS PIECE

I decided to cover this song as it is my favourite song from Glaive’s recent EP titled “All Dogs Go To Heaven”. I personally correspond with the song as it follows the story of how little things in a relationship can turn out to be a lot of things once they’re gone, and how you can take life for granted without realising that you should be happy and content in what you already have.

WHAT WENT WELL

In my performance I feel like I followed the lyrics accurately without trying to imitate Glaive’s voice and cadence so much, to show both the difference and similarity of us as artists without falling under the whole “clone” description.

WHAT WENT WRONG & HOW I CAN IMPROVE

I feel as if, vocally, this wasn’t my best performance or depiction of my vocal talent. I haven’t really ever tried doing a cover to a song, with or without a backing track instrumental or the song itself so this is a first for me. If I was to re-do this project, I think I’d go with multiple takes on vocals to try and perfect the sound rather than doing it all in one take.

Targets

To learn the practical skills for live sound to be able to produce a gig.

To improve communication skills and confidence.

To document live sounds skills effectively through pictures, videos, written work.
