This is what my drum pack looks so far I added a basic kick, snare and a crash. In then also added a warped piano and two vocal shouts which really fits well with the piano and adds atmosphere to the drum pack.
I found all of these samples in Ableton itself it was all already installed I just picked the samples I liked the sound of the most.
I picked samples that sound very experimental like the vocal shouts for example i waned the drum pack to sound fresh and a bit experimental. The drum pack only has 7 different samples all are enough to make a good sounding track I could’ve added more to the drum pack but I Already had the base idea for the beat and didn’t really need any other sample.
All of the images above are what the instrument layout look like. I made a pretty basic two step drum beat played over a 10 second sample with 2 of those experimental vocal shouts. I then made a melody with a piano and violin starting at eleven seconds of this beat. I added a little brass solo at the end I used three different brass sections and put them on top of each other to add more texture and dynamics to the beat. This beat was really inspired some of Kanye Wests earlier albums (College Dropout and My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy) I also made the beat by the colours I saw The main melody of this beat is purple and as I was randomly picking out samples I was looking for samples that have a colour that mix well with purple like blue for example.
This is what my track ended up sounding like. I am really proud of this beat I made as I have no idea how to use Ableton but somehow managed to create a decent sounding beat. I have not mixed the track at all as I don’t even know how to open up the mixing board for Ableton yet still but if I did mix it, it would obviously sound much better. I was planning of doing some rapping on his beat but I unfortunately ran out of time and I couldn’t record any vocals. I also realised the melody for the track was a bit out of timing which I think I moved the piano and violin by accident when I bounced the track but luckily isn’t too out of timing. Overall this is a pretty decent beat and I am happy about it next time I make a beat on Ableton I should mix it and use a bigger texture of instruments.
