Mock Performance

This our bands mock performance!

Firstly as a band together we do not have much stage presence at all at times it looks like we don’t even want to be there all of us don’t look at the crowd too much, our heads are stuck to looking at the ground or our instruments most the time we need to look at the crowd more so they feel like we are engaging with them.

Our singer doesn’t sing loud enough so for the real show our singer needs to put her finger up in the air so the sound technician knows that her volume needs to be increased the same goes for all of us if we are on stage and cannot hear ourselves. Our guitarist was completely out of tune delivering a very bad solo for our second song to prevent this everyone with a stringed instrument must double check if their instrument is in tune, forgetting to do this is possible as many of us may feel very nervous and forget to do the basic things so we need to constantly remind ourselves to make sure we are in tune.

Our drummer messed up his part near the end of our last song but this was not his fault as the he did not have much leg space when playing the drums as the drums are placed in a very tight area. He got a leg cramp whilst performing because of how small his leg room was. For the real performance we need to tell the stage group to make sure our drummer has enough leg space whilst performing so this does not happen again.

I myself made a lot of mistakes whilst playing bass, I played a lot of the wrong notes at the wrong times and got confused by the structure of the songs more than once not because i forgot the structure but because I was day dreaming I need to be completely focused whilst performing to not wonder off and day dream. Because I play bass the sound of it subdued most of the time under all of the other instruments so I think not many people noticed my mistakes. But i still made many mistakes and need to improve.

I played bass like a real bass player during this performance unlike all of our other rehearsals which actually helped a lot. It was much more comfortable and easier to play. playing with my fingers instead of thumb also helped with the actual way the bass itself sounded it sounds much more louder and clearer I still need to improve my finger movements as I have started playing with my finger just now I find it difficult to reach the bottom 2 strings thats the main thing I need to improve on.

When we got on stage it was pretty awkward as none of us were really prepared, we were all fumbling around the stage for the real performance. We need to decide what area each of us will be in so we immediately know where to go and will also help us start much quicker. When we are ready we also need to stop messing around with our instruments playing random notes in order to prevent this all we have to do is turn our volume down from our instruments so we are completely muted.

And last but not least whilst playing our last song on our set, some of us were out of timing in the beginning me and the guitarist were just a bit out of timing. To prevent this our drummer will also create a metronome for us with his drum sticks so both of are on time with each other during the beginning.

Target one – Finger Playing/ Reaching bottom strings

S – I need to play bass using my ringer finger more as eventually my ring finger will get used to it and will become more flexible.

M – I need to achieve this target in one weeks time so I need to practice playing bass every single day for at least 15 to 30 minutes.

A – The target that I have set for myself is completely achievable in 1 weeks time and is not difficult to achieve at all either.

R – This target is completely relevant as some of the songs on our set requires me playing the bottom strings of the bass which do not sound as good when played so needs to be improved.

T – In one weeks time this target must be achieved.
