This is our first band practice for our track I created the song. I was messing around on the guitar and came up with a nice riff which I do not know the chords to as I do not know anything about music theory and play just by ear. after I made the riff I made a bass line for it which my band mate Oliver changed a tad bit and added a bit more to it. I’m going to rap on this track but have not written any lyrics for it yet I do however have a subject idea for the track I want the track to be about a Gypsy revolution. I was inspired to make this track by reading a lot of different books about revolutionaries such as Fidel Castro , Alexander Hamilton and Martin Luther king. I also learned a lot about my culture read a lot of history about gypsies which really lit a fire in me and inspired me to write a song about it and try to make change. We were still figuring out the structure of the song so were kind of just messing around and writing down the structure of the song as we went.
This was our second week working on the track I wrote another riff for our chorus which I taught how to play to my band mate Isobel. At this point we have kind of got a grasp of the structure and decided to work on it this day. I still have not wrote any lyrics at his point but got some lines I want to use. I have a idea of starting off the track with the line “I was born for revolutionary purposes”
At this rehearsal were putting everything together but it is not completed yet at all our keyboard player Luke was still figuring out what chords to use for the track and our structure still isn’t the best the song is very short and we still did not have any lyrics yet. We still do not have a melody for the chorus.
In this rehearsal out tutor Nicolas helped us out with the structure of the song which sorted out a lot of the problems we had the song now is roughly 3 minutes and sounds pretty good so far however we still don’t have any lyrics or a melody for the track at all and we don’t know how to end the track yet.
This is what out track sounded like at the end of the day as you can see everything is pretty good but we still don’t know how to end it and still don’t have any lyrics for the track.
In this rehearsal we finally have almost everything nailed down. We got the structure of the song perfect all the band members know they’re part on the instruments they are playing. We also finally have lyrics written down for the track unfortunately only for my verses and nothing for the chorus as we still have not made a melody for the track. I decided to run through with my idea I had from the beginning and I rap about a gypsy revolution. I at the end of the track forgot my lyrics and messed up I need to read my and rap my lyrics constantly so I can remember them. Our drummer also wrote lyrics for the track in the beginning before the track kicks in I really liked what he wrote down and decided to use it.
Since we couldn’t find a melody our tutor helped us again and quickly wrote us a melody we even made chorus but we unfortunately did not record it. All of the band members really liked this melody and we are deciding to use it when we record the track.
