This is the out come from a little project that was given to me.The project that was gave to us it to see how fast we can see how our creativity. The project is to use a unsharpened pencil and see what we can do that relates to our theme and i wanted to use the patten on the pencil to put it on the headscarf so the way i did it is by taking a photo of the pencil n the product cove and then also took a photo of my model Aisha in the photo studio then i overplayed the picture of the pencil and i copied the pencil until it covered all of the image and then erased the parts that weren’t on the headscarf .When processing what we did mike liked the faced that i used the pencil to create a patten on the headscarf.

This was a little project that was given to me.Was to do with lines and then i looked up artist with use lines in photography and i came across Alana Dee Haynes and i took interoperation form her work to to it myself and i did exactly that and i really like the outcome of the little project.

Research on the headwear in islamic culture

Why females wear headscarfs:

In the Qur’an it instructs muslim women and men to dress modestly and for some the hijab is worn by muslim muslim girls and women to maintain modest and privacy from unrelated males.

What is the reason behind people having headwear in islamic culture:

Muslims believe that the islamic prophet Muhammad used to keep his head covered that is why the women wear hijabs and the men wear Taquyah.

Screen printing

In the screen printing lesson we got to make different backgrounds by taking coloured inks and putting them on a screen and using sodium alginate to transfer the dyes to the material. Then we went on to working with pigments and used the design that i original had printed by Helen the technician on to the screen then we set up the materials we were going to print on and then chose our different colours on the screen and printed and the did a print with out the pattern as well. The pattered i chose was a photo of Leo and Aisha from behind so when you turn it black and white the people look like silhouette.I could go further with this by putting prints on a scarf.

Health and safety
  • Open are keep doors and windows open
  • Use a scraper to scrape parts clean before manually cleaning it try not have skin contact with the inks
  • Use a jet-wash to clean the screen instead of doing it by hand

Darkroom

I took some of my images and turned them grey scale and then inverted them and printed them on tracing paper and then i messed with the different techniques and did some solarising. At first it didn’t go as well as i wanted i had to mess with some of the setting on the enlarger.

Health and safety
  • Do not touch the chemicals and if you get some chemicals on your hand wash it off with water straight after
  • Do not consume the chemicals
  • Separate dry and wet area
  • Don’t eat and drink or smoke in the darkroom
  • If pregnant don’t go into the darkroom

Studio and locations

I did a shoot in the studio with my model i didn’t want a bright light on the model so i used the soft box and Octo-Box but with low lights to see the model but doesn’t wash out the model and i realised i wanted to have more natural light for my images so i did a location shoot and i liked the shoot with the the natural light a lot more then the one in the studio.

Health and Safety
  • Don’t eat and drink in the studio
  • Don’t trip on the lip of the cove
  • Look out for the lights and don’t move the lights with out the technician or tutors permission if they cant do it them selfs
  • Keep the studio tidy
  • look out of loose cables and wires
  • Take more care when you use equipment that is expensive a and not to brake them
  • To take into consideration on where your location is and if you need other people to help

What is that happening in Iran

he wearing of a hijab in public is currently mandatory for women in Iran under strict Islamic law that is enforced by the country’s so-called morality police. The laws around the head covering sparked a nationwide protest movement after the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini, who died in police custody after being apprehended by the morality police allegedly for not wearing her hijab properly.

Her death on September 16 touched a nerve in the Islamic Republic, with prominent public figures coming out in support of the movement, including top Iranian actor Taraneh Alidoosti.
