Project 2: Progression
VIVA Questions
Name: Oliver Lloyd
.How do you feel this project went? This project went great.
.What skills do you feel you have developed throughout this project? I feel that I developed my professionalism; I learned what is and isn’t appropriate/professional for an audition, as well as some skills surrounding characterization.
.What were your key strengths in project 2? My key strengths were my script learning abilities; I didn’t forget a single line, I just had a minor delay in recalling it but I did get it right after a brief pause, which I think I played off decently well as intentional to the role.
.What were the weaknesses in project 2? My weaknesses in project 2 were my professionalism; during the audition I assumed that, since it was just Steph and Michael, that we didn’t have to treat it like an actual audition. I mistakenly thought that it was just to test our acting and characterization, completely missing the fact that it was also marking us up on our professionalism and audition-taking skills.
.How effectively did you manage the overall process? I believe that I managed the process of memorizing my script decently. I memorized it, so I suppose it worked out fine, but I didn’t really try too hard to memorize it, it just kind of happened. I think it’s because I’ve seen the source material so many times that I kind of already knew it, but I suppose that works out because I love it and that passion helped me to perform it better.
.Can you discuss any key research sources which have supported your process Honestly, my main research source was the show itself; the monologue came from the episode “Free Churro” of Bojack Horseman. I’ve seen the show many times and watching the episode helped me to remember it and gain further context for the scene.
.How effectively did you apply the research? Well, it worked, so I’d say I applied the research very effectively.
.What have you learnt from this project which you will take forward on to the next step of your own personal development? I have learned to take all auditions and assessments 100% seriously, even if I know the assessors.
.Tell me about your experience gained on project 2. The experience I gained was valuable to developing my professionalism and audition-taking skills.
.What have you learnt about the topic of progression? I have learned how to write a personal statement; I now know what universities are looking for.
.What can you do now that you couldn’t do when you started the course? I now know how to apply to universities and I have also gained a lot of confidence which allows me to take advantage of many opportunities that I would not have taken before.
.Why is learning this important? This is important because in the future I might decide that I want to apply to university and gaining this skill will aid me in that; it is also good to just know that in general. Just in case.
.If you were to do the project again what would you do differently? Be more professional during the audition.
.How will you effectively apply this within your next project? I will carry on with my professionalism throughout project 3.
.Did you enjoy the process? Yes.
.Set yourself 3 targets for project 3: 1. Do more research on different universities. 2. Be more professional. 3. Prepare more than one monologue even if it isn’t needed because it looks good and you have a backup just in case.
.Set yourself 3 targets for your scrapbook for project 3: 1. Do it on time for once. 2. Hit the success criteria better. 3. Write in more detail.
