Song writing-Band composition

this was our first song kind of it was the first thing we was doing i think we were all confused on the sound we wanted to get out of this we had a few tries and we wanted to make it sound better by trying to add something new in this case it was an acoustic song.

Here this is where our idea comes together we scrapped the other idea and started a new one Robert created this guitar piece which was later expanded and worked on with new things such as little riffs and a bass line to it followed by drums and some keys.

we needed to work on our structure mainly because we were always getting confused when the chorus came in or the rapping and when there was a breakdown. so while playing we were all kind of just looking at each other not knowing what’s next. so we woked on that and we could see improvements.

So here as you can see we were practicing in an acoustic room and there is a lot of interesting things going on here i dont have a clue what im doing here im just trying to make it sound decent and to match what the rest of the band is playing once Oliver does a little breakdown or chorus im not sure what it was at the time. Isobel starts to play around with the solo which was later taken out of the song and replaced with single stoke chords.

here we had a few practices on this and thats where i was figuring out what the drums will sound like to this song i didnt know weather to make the beat fast or slow so i was really trying not to make it sound like a rock song and you can see me switching between beats trying to figure out which one fits best. so this is where i figured i need to learn how to play different genres.

we finally figured out the intro and the verse and where the chorus comes in and you can hear Isobel starting to do the single chord little riff during the bass chorus. i stuck with a fast beat for this practice and re watching it i figured a more simpler beat would fit better.

Here im experimenting a alot with cymbals to create an effect and tension and i played a simpler beat which i ended up sticking to throught the whole song. we had a discussion about the verse and chorus and where everything was.

here we had a pretty good structure after Nic talked to us.

Here Nic helped us with a melody idea which i think sounds really nice and different.

This is how far we have come with the song i think everyone has improved and i think this song would sound really nice if it was finished with lyrics.

I enjoyed doing it it reminded me of project 1 but this was better as we made our own song i would like to do something like this again and experiment with different genres.
