Rehearsals and Evaluations

This was our first attempt on singing the first chorus and Robert practicing his verse. As you will hear i had the idea of singing over Roberts verse however that kind of confused him and listening back i don’t think it would’ve sounded good now. As you can hear we were still getting used to the sample and we are slightly out of time and singing off key.

As you can see here Robert is rehearsing his lyrics and this is a much clear sound as i am not singing over it so you can get a better understanding and from what you can hear he is still getting used to the melody and beat.

This is a rehearsal video of the HMRC song so starting off as you can hear its just the bass line we wanted it to start off with the bass because it sounds nice. I start with the little open Hi Hat this because why not it sounds nice. So what we have is an instrumental that has not been fully rehearsed or practiced as i have mentioned before when i do the fill that’s when everyone knows that there’s basically a change to something that being me changing up the Hi Hat or Whether it was about to go heavy or quiet. That’s technically how we communicated which i think is what saved the instrumental. However we did get better at knowing when to go light or heavy when to pause or keep playing as wed have rehearsed it like we have on the video. Towards the ending i think we got slightly confused but played it off. My drumming during the heavy part was terrible because i barely focused on that part during rehearsals as i kept thinking about where it was most appropriate to put the fill before the heavy part so that was kind of constantly in the back of my head during the song and i think if id have practiced a little bit more i would’ve done a lot better. I also couldn’t make my mind up weather i wanted to use the crash cymbal or the Hi Hat so i have experimented with that and as i thought to my self that i wanted the bat to be really laid back i ended up sticking to the Hi Hat.

This is the oasis cover rehearsal. starting off i think we started off pretty well i started drumming and then went straight into singing. Drumming and singing at the same time wasn’t necessarily hard for me. when i play drums i feel like my feet and hands are multitasking quite well i feel really connected to the drum kit when i play and singing wasn’t really hard its not something i thought about twice considering this drum beat throughout the song is quite repetitive and simple i had no trouble doing that. I forgot the lyrics here i think it was the second verse i may have repeated my self or started humming and to be honest i don’t really know why that happened i was confident that i knew the lyrics but somehow for some reason i forgot the lyrics maybe i was thinking too much about sounding good and got confused there im not really sure but there was no particular reason to why i forgot the lyrics. the ending of the song was saved we definitely needed to practice the ending im sure you will be able to hear it on this video. Other than that i think it was alright with better practice we could’ve done a lot better but it was still good. i tried to improvise a little but failed i got carried away i guess and tried something that doesn’t fit the song i thought by trying something different would make it sound a little bit more interesting because as i mentioned its a repetitive beat.
