In my Opinion i think my drumming got progressively better. At first i was trying to figure out what i will add to make it sound more interesting and i was still getting used to the feeling of the songs. When i finally figured out what i wanted to do i started getting better at playing it too. For example the 16th notes I thought they didn’t fit with drake song however i really liked the sound of something funky even though the song wasn’t funky I didn’t want it to sound boring with a simple beat especially with the two kicks following each other it needed that extra thing going on. And even when I didn’t want to do it it instinctively happened and i figured if that happens when I’m drumming on the performance i better practice the song using the 16th notes too so the others are used to hearing it and its not throwing them off and I’m comfortably switching between a simple groove and adding the 16th notes. And I personally think that without throwing in extra fills and the 16th notes the song would sound empty I would disagree if i was playing electric drums because the sound of the electric drums itself is enough to fill in the empty spaces. And as much as i hate to admit this i quite enjoyed drumming to drake.
