Enjoying childhood, having fun, pretty skies and apparatus to climb, childhood memory – falling down and grazing knee and running to parents and then smiling and running off to play with friends and climb and swing.

annotation : journey from the comfort of home to a childhood memory. Things that felt funny to touch and look at as a child and intrigued us. Favourite texture- rust on railings, chips away when touched and peels when picked at.
Research:
I researched about a German photographer named Thomas Friedrich Shaefer who used parts of his childhood memories and created a project called “Experiential Spaces”. He used this project to remind other people of their childhood memories. The reason he created this project was because he wanted to reimagine his childhood so he could figure out his past and how he became who he was. I used his way of research by travelling to a park and photographing the climbing frames and other fun things to do there as a way to stimulate whoever views my work and remind them of when they were a kid.
This person isn’t a wellknown photographer and just some random person I found. Her name is Sarah Mason, she works as a child photographer and captures images of children having fun or living their best lives for their parents to cherish forever and remind them when they grow up how happy they were as kids running around or sat with friends. Her work inspired me a little as she gets to work with kids everyday and capture rare moments of a child’s life hence why in my outdoor shoot you see an image of a little girl enjoying herself with her big brother and being happy just to be there. It isn’t a part of my journey, however it compliments it as a park is a childrens playground and the child is happy to just have that moment.
